ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO: A school bus aide in Englewood, Colorado is facing public outrage and legal consequences after being accused of physically assaulting multiple nonverbal students with autism.

Kiarra Jones, 28, was arrested on charges of crimes against at-risk adults/juveniles and third-degree assault for allegedly striking at least three students who rode the bus she was assigned to monitor, as per Law&Crime.

Families of Kiarra Jones' three alleged victims retain legal counsel

The Englewood Police Department's investigation began on March 28 when the Littleton Police Department notified them about potential child abuse occurring on a Littleton Public Schools bus.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage from the bus, investigators claim the video showed Jones repeatedly hitting a young boy.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jones on April 4, and she was taken into custody and booked at the Arapahoe County Jail. She has since been freed after posting a $5,000 bond.

The families of the three alleged victims have retained legal counsel and held an emotional press conference on Tuesday, April 11, to share horrific details of their children's injuries at the hands of their trusted bus aide.

The parents said their children suffered a knocked-out tooth, fractured bones and severe bruises. Jones, an employee with Littleton Schools, accompanied the children on the bus each day as it took them to The Joshua School, which caters to students with autism.

Detectives actively reviewing 'extensive amount of media/video content'

Devin and Jess, parents of a 10-year-old nonverbal son with autism who was allegedly subjected to abuse, reported noticing concerning bruises on their son in September 2023, which gradually intensified.

Jess reportedly said she took her concerns to The Joshua School, which told her the injuries did not happen while he was in their care. Littleton Public Schools allegedly told her there was nothing to be concerned about after she questioned them.

The parents chose to publicly release a surveillance video from the bus on the afternoon of March 18. The video depicted Jones aggressively elbowing, slapping, and treading on their son's body without apparent cause.

Two additional families have come forward, reporting identical injuries inflicted upon their children. However, Jones has not been charged in connection with these incidents.

Law enforcement officials stated that detectives are actively reviewing an "extensive amount of media/video content".

Ed C Hopkins from the Rathod Mohamedbhai law firm is representing all three families and has announced intentions to pursue legal action against Littleton Public Schools.
