WASHINGTON, DC: The Republican-led House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to three senior White House aides, requesting their testimony to assess President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer requested testimony from President Biden's closest aides in the West Wing: First Lady Jill Biden's senior aide, Anthony Bernal; senior adviser Ashley Williams; and Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini on Wednesday, July 10.

"The White House has shielded three key aides from testifying about President Biden's mishandling of classified documents, and now we've learned through reporting these same aides are also seeking to cover up President Biden's declining cognitive state inside the White House," Comer said in a press release as per New York Post.

The Kentucky Republican further asserted that Joe Biden was unfit for office and accused staff of attempting to conceal the truth from the public. He urged the senior aides to testify before the GOP-led committee to "provide the transparency and accountability that Americans deserve."

However, Comer's move was labeled a "political stunt" by White House Counsel's Office spokesman Ian Sams.

"Like everything Congressman Comer has done over the past year, these subpoenas are a baseless political stunt intended for him to get media attention instead of engage in legitimate oversight," Sams asserted. "His partisan attacks on the President have been discredited, and now he continues to debase the House by weaponizing subpoenas to get headlines instead of seeking information through the proper constitutional process."

The subpoena came amidst Biden's struggle to ensure his capability for a re-election bid after a pathetic debate performance against Donald Trump last month that led to heightened calls for his exit from the race.

The 81-year-old, however, remained adamant in his decision to stay in the race, claiming in a recent ABC News interview that only the intervention of "Lord Almighty" could make him change it.

According to a report by Axios, Bernal, Tomasini, and Williams have created a "protective bubble around" the President, staffing him so closely that he has lost all independence.

Comer had previously requested testimony from the trio regarding the DOJ's investigation into Biden's mishandling of classified documents, but the White House blocked the demand.

Out of the three, Bernal has notably stepped up his role as the closest adviser to Biden following the chaos that erupted due to the Democrat's debate.

The 51-year-old's colleagues earlier accused him of bullying and sexual harassment but did not face any consequences due to his branding as the first lady's "work husband."

Internet slams House Oversight committee's subpoena to top Biden aides

Netizens criticized the GOP-led committee's subpoena of the top three White House aides, claiming it was a waste of time and money.

"All show. No action. This is why the UNIPARTY will be voted out one by one," a user weighed in.

"Why? It’s not like you will do anything. Just like all your 'hearings' lots of tough talk then nothing. Just a total waste of time and money," another remarked.

"And see more nothing except a waste of taxpayer dollars," added a user.

"Well, they probably won't show up and you guys won't do a damn thing about it," read a response.

"All bark and no teeth…..nothing will come of this…" another person wrote.

"And what happens when they don’t show? You set a precedent with allowing Garland to defy you. How can you ever enforce a subpoena on anyone else?" Someone else asked. [sic]

Nothing will happen as usual. You guys are pathetic," an individual wrote.

"And then what will come out of their testimony? A big fat NOTHING!" Another user added.
