Iranian embassy posts AI meme showing Jesus Christ descending from the heavens to strike Trump
WASHINGTON, DC: An Iranian diplomatic account took a swing at Donald Trump this week, posting an AI-generated video that shows Jesus Christ descending from the heavens and striking the US president in the face.
The clip was shared by Iran’s embassy in Tajikistan on X.
Iran AI video shows Jesus punching Trump
The video riffs on an image Trump had originally posted on Truth Social.
In the Iranian version, Christ appears from the sky above Trump as an automated voice ominously declares, “Your reckoning has come.” As the figure draws closer, another voice cuts in with, “What is this?”
Trump is then heard shouting “no” just before Christ delivers a punch that sends him reeling. The clip depicts blood splattering from Trump’s mouth as his body twists and plunges into a fiery pit, while Christ looks on.
The embassy’s post is part of a series of AI-generated jabs released by Iranian diplomatic and media outlets, many of which have targeted Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Iran escalates meme war with US, Israel online
The video isn’t an isolated stunt. Iran has been leaning heavily into social media during its ongoing standoff involving the US and Israel.
One of the more prolific players in this campaign is Explosive Media, an Iranian media company known for its AI-generated clips. Its videos often reimagine global leaders such as Trump and Netanyahu as Lego-style figures, mocking them while attempting to showcase Iran’s military posture.
A spokesperson for Explosive Media pushed back on criticism of the content during a conversation with the BBC podcast 'Top Comment.' The spokesperson accused Trump of funding a “coup,” referencing January protests, and rejected allegations of antisemitism in videos targeting Israel. “Our videos are anti-Zionist," they said.
Washington hasn’t exactly stayed out of the mud. The Trump camp has fired back using imagery inspired by 'Grand Theft Auto' and 'SpongeBob SquarePants' to tout US military achievements and needle opponents.
Trump ‘doctor’ image sparks backlash, mockery online
Trump recently drew backlash for a now-deleted image he posted on April 12.
The image showed Trump in a white robe, touching the forehead of a man lying in what appeared to be a hospital bed. A beam of light glowed between Trump’s hand and the man’s head.
Around them stood a nurse, a soldier, a bearded man, and a young woman clasping her hands in prayer. Above the scene were fighter jets, two bald eagles, the American flag, and heavenly figures resembling service members. Fireworks lit up the sky near the Statue of Liberty and the Lincoln Memorial.

Critics labeled the imagery blasphemous. Even Trump’s conservative and Christian supporters in the MAGA camp weren’t too happy about it.
The president eventually deleted the post. He told reporters Monday that he “thought it was me as a doctor.” Vice President JD Vance later brushed it off as a “joke,” adding it was taken down because Trump “realized that a lot of people weren’t understanding his humor.”
The episode unfolded amid Trump’s ongoing spat with Pope Leo XIV, who has criticized the administration’s handling of tensions with Iran. Trump hit back by calling the Chicago-born pontiff “weak” on crime and suggesting that last year’s conclave wouldn’t have picked him if it weren’t for his return to the White House.
