WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Vice Presidential candidate and Ohio Senator JD Vance shared his take on Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' ethnicity during his interview with CNN host Dana Bash on Sunday, August 11.

Vance claimed to believe that Harris "is whatever says she is," but went on to defend former President Donald Trump for calling her a "chameleon."

The rhetoric over Harris' ethnicity started with Trump bringing up the subject during his appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention at the end of July.

"I've known (Harris) a long time indirectly... and she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn't know she was Black, until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black," he said at the event, adding, "So I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black?"

JD Vance's comments on Kamala Harris' ethnicity

"I believe Kamala Harris is whatever she says she is, but I believe importantly that President Trump is right that she is a chameleon," Vance told Bash on Sunday.

"She pretends to be one thing in front of one audience, she pretends to be something different in front of another audience. Look, Dana, she’s not running a political campaign, she’s running a movie,” he continued.

"(Harris) only speaks to voters behind a teleprompter. Everything is scripted. She doesn't have policy positions out there. She hasn't answered why she wanted to ban fracking, but now she doesn't. She wanted to fund the police, but now she doesn't. She wanted to open the border, and now she doesn't. She should have to answer for why she presents a different set of policies to one audience and a different set of policies to another audience, and I think that's what President Trump is getting at.”

"This is a fundamentally fake person. She is different depending on who she is in front of," added the senator.

Internet gets divided on JD Vance's comments on Kamala Harris

Netizens subscribing to the Democratic and the Republican ideas take different sides while reacting to the comments made by JD Vance on the social media platform X. While conservatives agreed with the rhetoric critical of the vice president, progressives slammed Vance for changing his own stances.

"This is why they're hiding her from the press. GO JD!" exclaimed a user.

"Oh look another weirdo trying to micro manage a woman's career and life," wrote another.

"She couldn't go on air without a script if her life depended on it. Fake candidate fake VP fake politican fake person," shared a third.

"There’s a difference between WHINING and WINNING!" quipped a fourth user.

"Where’s the lie? Kamala Harris isn’t behind fake. She’s also a liar and a thief," stated a fifth.

"This, coming from a guy who literally re-invented himself from a Trump hater into an Orange Noser?? Are you kidding me right now?" inquired yet another.
