During the Friday, July 19, episode of 'The View,' Behar, 81, criticized Trump's comments made at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Trump, 78, spoke about the harrowing experience of being shot at by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, which left a fireman, Corey Comperatore, dead.

Donald Trump claimed his survival was due to God being "on his side".

Behar expressed her disapproval, saying, "When something like this happens to you like this assassination attempt and you say something like 'God was watching me,' that is a very un-Christian thing to say because it's very narcissistic."

She continued, questioning Trump's faith: "What about Corey [Comperatore]? What about all those guys that got killed in Sandy Hook? 'Oh, God was watching me and not watching them?' There's something very disturbing about that."

Co-host Ana Navarro, 52, added fuel to the fire by saying, "God should have pulled the plug on that mic yesterday."

The controversy stems from Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention, his first public appearance since the assassination attempt on July 13.

Trump described the chaotic scene, saying, "Bullets continued to fly as very brave Secret Service agents rushed to the stage and pounced on top of me for protection. There was blood pouring everywhere, and yet, in a certain way I felt very safe, because I had God on my side."

He credited his survival to divine intervention, stating, "The amazing thing is that prior to the shot, if I had NOT moved my head at the very last instant, the assassin's bullet would have perfectly hit its mark, and I would not be with you tonight."

The incident occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was speaking to thousands of supporters.

Eight minutes into his speech, Crooks fired from a rooftop 130 yards away. The bullet grazed Trump's ear, narrowly missing him, while Comperatore was fatally shot. Crooks was killed by law enforcement shortly after.

This incident has also brought scrutiny upon MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, who has faced calls for her removal after sharing inflammatory theories about Trump's assassination attempt. Reid, 55, posted a video to X suggesting that Trump was not actually shot.
