Kathy Griffin claims John Mayer 'avoids' her as comedian shares experiences of 'running into him'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Kathy Griffin recently shared her thoughts on feeling a sense of avoidance from fellow celebrities, specifically noting encounters with musician John Mayer.
During an episode of 'Dinner's on Me' hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Griffin discussed her observation that some individuals may be avoiding her due to her comedy.

During the Tuesday, January 23, episode of 'Dinner's on Me,' the 'Modern Family' actor asked Griffin, "Are there other people that you feel like you were friends with once, and maybe because of your comedy, you've lost that connection?"
The Comedian revealed, "No, because those people tend to avoid me to begin with. So, like John Mayer. I run into him a lot. He was really close with (Bob) Saget, and so I saw him at the Saget memorials, etc."
"But it's weird. He's literally never come up to me, but in a way that I feel like he's like, 'I don't need this from her.' So I get that a lot," she continued. "Sometimes it's just the thought of a comedian. Being there at that moment or whatever, but yeah, I get a lot of folks that are just like, 'ugh.'"
Despite running into Mayer frequently, he has never approached Griffin, leaving her with the impression that he prefers to keep his distance.

Griffin elaborated on her experiences, suggesting that some people might feel uneasy around comedians or at certain events.
She also revealed a similar situation with Anderson Cooper, her former friend, who reportedly distanced himself from her after the controversy surrounding Griffin's photo with a fake decapitated head of Donald Trump.
"But that was like a little more of a friendship. That was like kind of a personal thing because that was a tough situation."
"I mean, you know, I also don’t have like a need to like, hang out with people that maybe weren’t so kosher," the stand-up star noted.
Griffin shared her feelings about the perceived shift in her friendship with Cooper. She thought they were "legit friends" and not just Hollywood acquaintances.
Addressing the controversy, Griffin acknowledged that Cooper's reaction was connected to a challenging situation.
"I thought so. I didn’t think we were Hollywood friends. I thought we were legit friends."
Griffin has been focusing on her well-being after undergoing surgery for lung cancer. She humorously commented on changes in her voice post-surgery, emphasizing her resilience and maintaining a positive outlook. Griffin quipped that her voice might sound different, but the important thing is that her "b---- are still fabulous."
"My voice got some damage," In an interview, she discussed going under the knife. "I am fine, it doesn't hurt, and the important thing is my b---- are still fabulous. I think it'll get back to normal but I'm not sure. I'm still working on it. I am funnier, because I think I sound non-threatening and demure. That's my new angle."
