Katy Perry announced the launch on Instagram on Thursday, promoting the collectible to her 204 million followers and revealing that only 1,000 dolls are available.
She shared, “These Perry Playland dolls have been waiting to PLAY and now is their time to rise and shine!” Katy Perry wrote on Instagram.
Referencing her recent space trip, she added, “Annnnnnnd… I know I was slightly busy last week but I may have given some justice for ‘The Smile Tour’ while I was 🚀 so High On Your Supply is finally avail to stream, you’re welcome.”
The launch came days after being criticized for her 11-minute Blue Origin all-female space flight alongside Jeff Bezos' fiancee Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, Aisha Bowe, and Amanda Nguyen.

The Atlantic described Perry as the “Perfect Pop Star for a Dumb Stunt” for theatrics like kissing the ground after landing and bringing a daisy in honor of her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

That Blue Origin flight with Katy Perry and other women did not really go to space like the media is portraying. They didn’t actually experience micro gravity either.

Katy Perry and the flight's passengers have faced public criticism, including from fellow celebrities.
Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn, and Amy Schumer were among those who criticized the trip as a stunt for Jeff Bezos’ space company.
Even Wendy’s took a jab, leaving a comment under a picture of Perry in her spacesuit that read, “Can we send her back?”
Perry’s longtime rival Kesha appeared to join in by sharing a photo of herself drinking from a Wendy’s cup, a move a source claimed Perry viewed as “adding fuel to the fire.”
Environmental concerns and the extravagant nature of the trip have added to the backlash against Perry. Activists have spoken out about the damage such space flights could cause to the planet, as Daily Mail noted.
Internet roasts Katy Perry after launch of her new business
Social media users reacted strongly to Katy Perry’s new business. One Instagram user wrote, “Tryna make up for the millions you spent on that flight?” though it’s unclear whether the space trip was fully sponsored by Jeff Bezos.
Another called the dolls “Cheap quality,” while one user urged her to “Read the room baby.”
One person commented, “Using our money so you can do something like flying to space again, polluting our planet and waisting thousands of dollars? If you say that you feel love, without love for the planet and for people in poverty?!”
“How are you not embarrassed of yourself? So out of touch,” read another comment.
“No one buying dat spacegirl,” one wrote, and another added, “I just can’t support how tone deaf this s**t is.”
“Just what the world needed, a plastic global warming doll,” another user wrote.
“You just lost a lot of fans with that space stunt you pulled,” said another. “These aren’t cute enough for the bs you pulled girliepop!” one person added.
