LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kieran Culkin took an unexpected and playful shot at Adrien Brody over his lengthy award speeches, as he accepted the 2025 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

The ‘Succession’ star won the honor on Sunday, February 23, for his work in Jesse Eisenberg’s film, ‘A Real Pain’, as reported by The Independent.

As he held his award while on stage at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, Culkin said, “This is a really heavy award. I don’t think there’s any way anyone can hold this for 45 seconds, which is the allotted time, Adrien Brody — 45 seconds.”

Kieran Culkin says he ‘loves’ Adrien Brody

His words not only left Adrien Brody laughing but also other attendees.

The 42-year-old actor then said, “There was no reason to take that shot. I love you; it’s a joke. You take your time. Lord knows I will.”

Culkin also gave a shout out to many people in his speech, including 'A Real Pain' writer and director Jesse Eisenberg.

“For those of you who don’t know, [Jesse] cast me in this movie without auditioning me or seeing my work or seeing me in anything ever…which he thinks is normal and I can’t even get into how annoyingly wrong he is,” he revealed.

The PrimeTime Emmy Award winner continued, “But he cast me because his sister told him to. And he puts a lot of faith in her, which is really sweet but dumb. So yes, thank you Jesse for putting me in this movie,” before noting, “But I want to take a moment to thank Hallie: Thank you, Hallie, for thinking of me and putting my name into your stupid brother’s ear.”

Kieran Culkin won Golden Globe Award for ‘A Real Pain’

Kieran Culkin’s performance in ‘A Real Pain’ also earned him a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award. He’s even been nominated for the upcoming Academy Awards.

In October 2024, he told Vulture, “It was one of the very, very, very rare scripts that I laughed out loud reading. It was that rare thing of, Oh, I know who this character is and I know how to do it.”

He, however, lost to Timothee Chalamet, who got the award for ‘A Complete Unknown’.

But the 51-year-old won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in January. At the time, during his lengthy three-and-a-half-minute acceptance speech, he said, “You know, this story is really the character’s journey that is very reminiscent of my mother’s and my ancestors’ journey of fleeing war and coming to this great country.”
