LeBron James criticized for posting 'stitched' video clips of Donald Trump as he endorses Kamala Harris
WASHINGTON, DC: NBA star LeBron James is facing criticism after sharing a video supporting Kamala Harris for president and calling out Donald Trump and the Republican party.
The video, which James posted on X, included clips of controversial statements by Trump and his allies, which James claims reflect the type of environment he does not want for his family.
LeBron James’s endorsement of Kamala Harris
In the post, LeBron James stated his choice for Kamala Harris was clear, citing his concerns for his family’s future.
"What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!" he captioned the video.

His endorsement, however, has sparked backlash from critics who accuse him of using misleading and “stitched-together” clips.
LeBron's video features a series of comments, including one from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally where Hinchcliffe made a racially insensitive joke.
The video also includes a clip of Trump saying, “maybe hate is what we need” and audio snippets from Republicans layered over images of civil rights protests and past injustices.
Charles J Kirk criticizes LeBron James’ endorsement of Kamala Harris
Charles J Kirk, a conservative political activist, reacted strongly to the video.
He accused James of taking “Trump soundbites, stitched them together completely out of context, then layered them over racially charged images that have literally nothing to do with Trump.”
Lebron James, who will never be as good as Jordan, just took a bunch of Trump soundbites, stitched them together completely out of context, then layered them over racially charged images that have literally nothing to do with Trump, and then posted the whole thing on IG.

Kirk noted that “followers and fans in the comments aren't buying it” and pointed to Instagram comments calling out James for the video.
LeBron James' criticism for Donald Trump and Democrat support
This is not the first time LeBron James has publicly criticized Donald Trump.
In 2008, James hosted a Jay-Z concert in support of Barack Obama’s presidential run and, in 2016, he supported Hillary Clinton in her campaign against Trump.
The following year, after NBA star Steph Curry declined a White House visit, Trump rescinded the invitation.
James famously responded by calling Trump “U bum,” saying, “@StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to the White House was a great honor until you showed up!”

James’ activism has extended beyond politics as he co-founded a group in 2020 to combat voter disenfranchisement, particularly in Black communities, noted Daily Mail
In 2018, he faced backlash from Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham who told James and fellow NBA star Kevin Durant to “shut up and dribble” amid their vocal support for racial justice causes.
Internet backlash mounts against LeBron James’ video about Donald Trump
While many voiced their disapproval, others praised LeBron James for his support of Kamala Harris.
One user on X questioned James' motives, writing, “How much did they pay you to post this fake news trash?”
Another Instagram user commented, “King, these were all taken out of context.” A disappointed Lakers fan wrote, “As a Lakers fan, I lost all my respect for u.”
In addition to the backlash for his support of Harris, James is also facing criticism for reportedly attending events hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs, which have recently come under scrutiny.
A commenter remarked, “All this to keep your name off that Diddy list.” However, James also received support from some fans. One user praised him as “the greatest player of all time." Another called the video “powerful.”
