Liam Payne’s ex Maya Henry reveals singer's joke about dying in interview two days before his death

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Maya Henry, the ex of Liam Payne, revealed alarming details about the One Direction singer in an interview published only two days before his tragic death at the age of 31 on October 16.

A reliable source also informed PEOPLE that Payne "was extremely overwhelmed by all of the legal issues" associated with Henry.

Maya Henry claims Liam Payne used manipulative tactics before death

According to a report by OK Magazine, Maya Henry stated on the podcast 'The Internet Is Dead,' “I always felt it was a manipulation tactic. I always felt like it was so I’d continue to feel bad for him."

She further added, “He would always message me ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well.’ He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die. I’m not doing well.’”

“There was one time I was trying to get him help and he was not taking it. He would text my mom, ‘I’m not doing well, have Maya contact me.’ Because I wouldn’t respond. And it’s just always the same cycle,” she went on to say.

Payne died following a multi-story fall at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, October 16, as confirmed by the Policia Federal Argentina.

The investigation into the cause of his death is ongoing, and an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted. Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son Bear Grey, with his ex, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.

Maya Henry accused Liam Payne of persistent harassment

Maya Henry claimed the pop star continued to contact her and her family when her book was coming out in 2024. She issued a cease-and-desist order last week to the former One Direction singer, alleging that he had repeatedly contacted her.

In a TikTok posted on October 6, Henry, a model from Texas and author of the novel 'Looking Forward,' claimed that her ex-boyfriend, who is not named but linked to "One Direction fans," still incessantly contacts her phone.

"It's always from different phone numbers too. I never know where it's going to come from. Also [he] will email me," Henry claimed. "Not only me, but he'll blow up my mom's phone. Is that normal behavior to you?"

"Also messaging my friends," she went on to say. "I found out later so they could go over to his house apparently."

She also claimed that Payne had "weaponized" One Direction fans against her. "He says that he preys on One Direction fans because they will always be loyal to him and they won't tell on him."
