NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Liberal late-night talk show hosts reportedly had a "meltdown" during their respective shows on Wednesday, November 6, after Donald Trump’s unexpected victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel all began their respective shows with a mix of forced smiles and palpable frustration, struggling to hide their disappointment, the New York Post reported.

Jimmy Kimmel calls Donald Trump's victory 'terrible night for women and children'

The late-night shows that followed Donald Trump's victory against Kamala Harris to become the 47th President were tinged with shock while several celebrities from the entertainment industry expressed their feelings about the election result.

Jimmy Kimmel, the 56-year-old ABC host, who claimed to be trying to figure out what happened, returned and referred to election night as "the worst taco Tuesday of my whole life."

"Let’s be honest, it was a terrible night last night," a visibly emotional Kimmel remarked.

The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host paused to repress his emotions and said, "It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go."

Kimmel unfoundedly claimed that the Silicon Valley millionaires, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the "wriggling brain worms who sold their souls to bow down to Donald Trump" all benefited from Trump's election.

Moreover, he responded to Trump's repeated accusations of election interference in Joe Biden's 2020 victory by saying, "More than half of this country voted for the criminal who is planning to pardon himself for his crimes. I guess this election wasn’t rigged," according to the Independent.

Kimmel added, "I spent a lot of time over the past 17 hours thinking about what I would say tonight, or even if there is anything to say tonight, and there’s nothing, goodnight everybody," while walking off the stage.

Stephen Colbert says Donald Trump is 'monstrous'

With a more solemn tone, CBS late-night host Stephen Colbert opened the 'Late Show' by speaking straight into the camera in front of a subdued audience.

"Hey there, how are you doing? If you watch this show regularly, I’m guessing you’re not doing great. Yeah, me neither," Colbert began his show.

Colbert then took a blunter stance, referring to Trump as "a monstrous child surrounded by cowards and grifters."

He joked that he was wearing his "fundamentally questioning my belief in humanity: sticker" and claimed it was "hard to see a bright side" after Trump's victory.

Colbert emphasized that he was happy to be performing a "comedy show" and that people should not be alone during "times like this."

Colbert then went into the "cold open," showing several broadcasts from election night coverage, and mocked various responses to Trump's win.

Jimmy Fallon states 'America decided to get back with a crazy ex'

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon mostly relied on cheesy one-liners and what appeared to be forced audience laughter during the start of his 'The Tonight Show'.

Fallon said, "Well guys last night America decided to get back with a crazy ex and elect Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. No matter who you voted for I think we can all agree that it’s going to be a rough Thanksgiving."

He then continued about how Trump could become the first president to be "under White House arrest" and how he must relocate his confidential information back to Washington.

Fallon also mocked Trump's age and weight, stating that the 224 vs. 292 electoral outcome is "Trump's made-up weight versus his actual weight" while adding that now Biden "will hand over his life alert necklace" to the president-elect, reported Daily Mail.

Seth Meyers believes Donald Trump isn't 'a good person'

Seth Meyers of NBC disclosed that he had cast his ballot for Kamala Harris, joking that no one was aware of his choice in the weeks leading up to the election.

The 'SNL' alum, 50, said, "I don’t think Donald Trump’s a good person. I will even go as far as saying he’s a bad person. Now in my defense, I’m only basing that on everything that I’ve ever been taught about what makes someone good or bad."

Meyers' composed manner was short-lived as he prepared for his 'A Closer Look' segment about the 2024 presidential election result. He laughed hysterically as he began, "Well, Donald Trump has won the 2024 election and will be president again for four more years, or eight or 12 or whatever."

Donald Trump's supporters slam late-night hosts for taking jab at him

Several Donald Trump's supporters took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam the 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' host for mocking the president-elect. One person wrote, "#Jimmyfallon respect your president!! #Trump2024 #Trump"

Another Trump supporter commented, "@jimmyfallon You are one of the most followed people on X. Using X funded Trump’s nomination. Continuing to use X is showing support for Trump and the right wing agenda. Please delete your account. For the future of human rights."

"@jimmyfallon, @jimmykimmel& @StephenAtHome are going to use Trump in all their “jokes” and monologues even more. Jesus Christ comedy is dead," remarked one individual.

Another took a swipe at the hosts and said, "Late-night hosts are 'melting down'? I guess they forgot that comedy is supposed to be about laughter, not just political tears."

"They all should have seen this coming just based on their abysmal tv ratings. Their audiences are made of imbeciles and the mentally ill," another Trump supporter added.
