Lisa Vanderpump cleaned house at 'Vanderpump Rules' as she felt younger stars were getting more attention
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Lisa Vanderpump has reportedly served up a dish of envy on the set of 'Vanderpump Rules', orchestrating a major shakeup of the reality series' cast after feeling sidelined by the younger stars’ rising popularity.
According to insiders, the 64-year-old reality TV mogul wasn’t about to let her show become overshadowed by the drama of her castmates, so she took matters into her own hands, by cleaning house.
Lisa Vanderpump was concerned about her role in 'Vanderpump Rules'
An insider revealed to Radar Online that Lisa Vanderpump, who plays a key role as co-executive producer, was concerned about her diminishing role on the show as younger stars, such as Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, and Scheana Shay, began dominating the narrative.
“All of the cheating and catfighting was taking attention away from Lisa – and she wasn’t going to let that happen,” the source said.
Bravo recently announced that 'Vanderpump Rules' will undergo a reboot in Season 12, with a fresh group of employees working at Vanderpump’s SUR Restaurant & Lounge, as well as her other hospitality ventures.
However, the decision to fire the main cast took many by surprise, especially long-time stars like Sandoval, Madix, and Shay.
According to a show insider, they were blindsided by the firings, believing they had earned raises rather than losing their spots on the show.
“The cast were becoming big stars in their own right, and they actually believed they were going to get raises – not get fired,” the insider shared.
“But they should have seen the writing on the wall. Their storylines became the star attraction on 'Vanderpump Rules' – to the point where Lisa just seemed like window dressing and wasn’t even on camera much.”
“All the people who have tuned in to Lisa on reality shows over the years know her ego wouldn’t stand for second-class status,” the insider added. “So she used her power to get rid of the bunch.”
