Cohen asked Bryan about his thoughts on the situation saying, "It made a lot of news that Beyonce didn't get any CMA nominations. How did that register with you?"

Bryan said, "It's a tricky question because, obviously Beyonce made a country album and Beyonce has a lot of fans out there that have her back. And if she doesn't get something they want, man, they come at you,"

He went on to emphasize that while he's all for artists exploring country music, it’s important for them to fully immerse themselves in the genre's community.

Bryan went on, "I'm all for everybody coming in and making country albums and all that. But just by declaring that, just because she made one, I don't need [a nomination], just 'cause I make one."

Luke Bryan sends warm invitation to 'get in the family'

Bryan shared his theory on why the CMA voting body may have overlooked Beyonce, noting that everyone appreciated her effort to make a country album, but that it might take more than just a musical shift.

"Everybody loved that Beyonce made a country album. Nobody's mad about it. But where things get a little tricky and, and you know — if you're gonna make country albums, come into our world and be country with us a little bit. Beyonce can do it exactly what she wants to. She's probably the biggest star in music. But come to an award show and high-five us, and have fun and get in the family too. And I'm not saying she didn't do that."

Beyonce’s foray into the country isn't entirely new. She previously performed 'Daddy Lessons' at the 2016 CMAs with The Chicks.

Luke Bryan’s recent comments about Beyonce’s absence from the 2024 CMA Award nominations have ignited a debate among fans on Facebook.

One user expressed frustration, writing, "I'm sorry, but it just really makes me mad that people keep saying she got snubbed when in reality, it could have just been that other people were better than her. Just because she didn't get nominated, doesn't mean people are purposely doing something."

Another commented, "Ok so why can’t singers go to different types of genres of music. I think all of them should be able to try something different and expand their talent. If it works, good for you. But I don’t think we should hate just because one person has done a certain type of music for so long."

A user said, "Couldn't get past the first couple of words of those first releases, so I don't feel I’m missing out on anything. Totally understand the snub. The Beyhive is the real reason why the album went to the top, not real country fans."

Another wrote, "There’s nothing country about her or her music!"

A user said, "She needs to stay in her lane… NOT country. She’s good at what she does, but not everyone is a crossover artist."

Another added, "I think she’s trying to beat some of Whitney Houston’s records!! She can try all she wants, but you can’t beat class."
