WASHINGTON, DC: Sen Mark Warner (D-Va) has reached out to Senate Democrats to facilitate a conversation about President Joe Biden's future as the party's presidential nominee, according to Politico.

The Senate has been on a two-week break, and Monday will mark the senators' return to Washington following the Commander-in-Chief's lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

It's unclear how many senators are open to the discussion; however, many Senate Democrats have continued to publically express their support for the 81-year-old incumbent POTUS.

Another reliable source mentioned that no definite plans have been established for the discussion.

Joe Biden working on damage control

Mark Warner, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, is not typically known for sparking discord on Capitol Hill.

Nonetheless, this effort indicates that concerns stemming from President Biden's dismal debate outing have not entirely dissipated.

House Democrats, Reps Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), Angie Craig (D-Minn) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz) are among the growing number of voices calling for Joe Biden to step aside as the party's nominee.

Many have delivered stern evaluations of the president's performance and expressed apprehensions about how voters might perceive him afterward.

Since then, the Democrat statesman has been working on damage control, including reaching out to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Sen Chris Coons (D-Del), among others.

When President Biden was asked in Wisconsin on Friday about Mark Warner wanting him to drop out of the 2024 race, he told reporters, "He's the only one."
