The Duchess of Sussex, 43, posted the tribute on Instagram on June 4, marking Lilibet’s golden birthday, turning 4 on the 4th. The carousel included candid moments of the mother and daughter near the ocean, including one where baby Lilibet is swaddled in Meghan’s arms.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born in June 2021 in California, a year after Prince Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties and relocated to the US. Her name honors two of the most influential women in Prince Harry’s life, his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, whose childhood nickname was Lilibet, and his mother, Princess Diana.

Now raised far from royal protocols, Lilibet and her older brother, Archie, 6, lead a quieter life in Montecito. Yet, the couple has still embraced their royal lineage; both children now officially hold the titles of Prince and Princess, a right granted following King Charles III’s ascension in 2022. The formal announcement came during Lilibet’s christening in 2023.

“The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch,” a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed last year. “This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”

Meghan Markle envisions future business with daughter Lilibet during a talk with Tina Knowles

The Duchess of Sussex opened up about this aspiration during a candid conversation with Tina Knowles, mother of Beyonce, on the latest episode of her podcast 'Confessions of a Female Founder.'

During their discussion, Markle reflected on the close working bond between Tina and Beyoncé in building their haircare brand Cécred. She then posed a question, “I mean, I wonder if one day I’ll be in business with Lili and we’ll be building something...”

Seeking advice, she asked Knowles, “What advice do you have for people really digging into business together in that way, especially as mother and daughter?”

Knowles, drawing from her years as both a salon owner and Beyoncé’s collaborator, shared insight into the emotional balance that comes with mixing family and entrepreneurship.

“There are difficulties sometimes because when you’re dealing with your child or they’re dealing with their mother,” she said. “You have disagreements and you have to—I’m the one to always cave. I’ve been like that since I was young. If my kids are mad at me, I can’t take it.”

“So, I’ll cave, I’ll apologize. Not that they ran over me because they were really good kids, but even as adults, if we have a disagreement or whatever, I’m the one to call because I don’t want to waste that time, and I don’t ever want to not be close to my kids. It’s just my priority,” she added.
