Melania Trump makes a fashion statement in Givenchy as she joins husband to welcome Xi Jinping
JOINT BASE ANDREWS, MARYLAND: Melania Trump had two high-profile appearances on Wednesday, September 23, first ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for the launch of her new women's initiative IMPERIA and later joining President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan.
Melania Trump stuns in pinstriped Givenchy skirt suit at Joint Base Andrews
Melania arrived alongside Trump as Xi stepped off his plane Peng, beginning their three-day state visit to the United States.
For both the NYSE visit and the arrival ceremony, the first lady chose a Givenchy pinstriped double-breasted wool blazer with a matching striped wool midi skirt.
She paired the suit with a simple white top, black Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps and Saint Laurent sunglasses. She also appeared to be wearing a Cartier Santos-Dumont watch.
US Marines had rolled out a red carpet for Xi ahead of the welcome, adding to the formal setting as the four stood together during the arrival ceremony.
Melania’s appearance also came just hours after her stop at the NYSE for the launch of IMPERIA, giving her a busy schedule on the day Xi arrived in the country.

Donald Trump’s winter coat also gets attention
Trump’s appearance at the military base also became a talking point, with the president wearing black gloves and a full winter coat despite temperatures being around 64 to 65 degrees at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

Xi’s arrival was only the first part of the visit, with the main talks between the world leaders scheduled for Thursday at the White House.
Xi Jinping’s US visit to continue with White House events
Trump and Xi are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions on Thursday until late afternoon.
Trump and Melania will then host Xi and Peng at a state dinner with their respective envoys.
Reuters has reported that some technology leaders are also expected to attend.
On Friday, Xi and Peng are scheduled to have private tea with Trump and Melania before visiting the US National Archives to see documents connected to American history.
