AUSTIN, TEXAS: Tensions reached a boiling point at the University of Texas at Austin on Sunday, April 28, when a pro-Gaza event organized by LGBTQ group 'Trans for Palestine' took an unexpected and violent turn.

Blaze Media host and political comedian Alex Stein found himself in the midst of chaos as he confronted the activists about their support for Palestinian territory, despite well-documented human rights abuses and executions of LGBTQ individuals by Hamas.

Video footage captured the intense confrontation, where Stein questioned the group's motives, asking, "But don't Palestinians throw gay people off roofs?"

His question was met with aggressive resistance, as a mob formed around him, and an individual approached him from behind, snatching his phone and physically assaulting him.

Stein, known for hosting 'Primetime with Alex Stein' on Blaze Media, defended himself and and managed to get back his phone. However, the situation escalated further as he was assaulted a second time, this time being pulled to the ground by his assailant.

Despite the scuffle, Stein quickly regained his footing and chased after the suspect before ultimately opting to exit the event.

The incident intensified the existing tensions on campus, following an earlier effort by students to establish an anti-Israel Gaza encampment on Wednesday, April 24.

However, Texas police promptly dismantled the encampment, leading to several arrests as authorities encountered resistance against dispersal orders, worsening the situation, as reported by Texas Tribune.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott condemned the protests and subsequent violence, advocating for arrests and disciplinary action against the participants.

He took to X to write, "Arrests being made right now & will continue until the crowd disperses. These protesters belong in jail. Antisemitism will not be tolerated in Texas. Period."

He added, "Students joining in hate-filled, antisemitic protests at any public college or university in Texas should be expelled."
