TUCSON, ARIZONA: The heartbroken family of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie isn’t giving up, but they’re reminding folks that time isn’t on their side.

In an emotional statement, Guthrie’s three children thanked the Tucson community for its support while urging residents to take another look at anything they might know.

“We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case,” the statement said. “Someone knows something. It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant. We hope people search their memories, especially around the key timelines of January 31 and the early morning hours of February 1, as well as the late evening of January 11.”

“We desperately ask this community for renewed attention to our mom’s case – please consult camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations, or conversations that in retrospect may hold significance,” they added. “No detail is too small. It may be the key.”

Seven weeks, thousands of tips, and still no answers

March 22 marks seven weeks since Nancy Guthrie was allegedly taken from her Tucson home in the middle of the night, according to authorities.

Her family first raised the alarm on February 1, when she failed to show up for a planned visit to a friend’s house to watch a livestreamed church service. Since then, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working through thousands of tips, trying to piece together what happened.

Doorbell camera images released by the FBI on February 10 showed an armed, masked man at Guthrie’s home the night she vanished. Investigators have been trying to identify him ever since.

Authorities also cast a wide net early on, asking neighbors to submit any potentially relevant footage dating back to January 1, rewinding the clock a full month before her disappearance.

That timeline matters. Neighbors revealed on March 18 that investigators have been knocking on doors and zeroing in on specific dates, especially the weekend Guthrie disappeared and January 11.

The Guthrie family has put up a staggering $1 million reward for her return. The FBI has added another $100,000, urging anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.

A family stuck in limbo

Behind the investigation, the Guthries have been unable to mourn or heal.

"We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home," their statement continued. "We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest. Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing."

The case has also kept Nancy’s daughter, “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, largely off the air. But on March 6, she briefly returned to the Today studio at Rockefeller Center to reassure colleagues she hasn’t lost herself in the ordeal.

“I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me,” she told the staff. “And I don’t know what version of me that will be, but it will be.”

“I’m holding onto my faith,” she added. “I still believe.”
