PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: In her first podcast appearance as the newly elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Lara Trump outlined her vision for the party's future, unveiling ambitious initiatives aimed at reshaping the landscape of US elections.

A groundbreaking endeavor highlighted by Trump is the RNC's initiative to recruit and train individuals to serve as poll workers across the nation. Departing from traditional practices of merely deploying poll observers, the RNC under Trump's leadership seeks to bolster the ranks of poll workers, ensuring a robust workforce adept at handling ballots.

Lara Trump wants to revolutionize poll worker recruitment

"There was a moratorium on trained poll workers. These are people who are not just standing there looking around ... These are people who can actually go in there and physically handle the ballots. They can count the ballots coming in, count the ballots going out," Lara Trump said.

The move marks a departure from conventional strategies and signals the RNC's commitment to fortifying the electoral process. The initiative has drawn attention and some skepticism, notably from Ron Filipowski, a Democratic attorney, who raised concerns about potential partisan influence in the recruitment process.

Nevertheless, Lara Trump remains determined to revolutionize the role of poll workers in elections, highlighting the need for enhanced election integrity.

"Once Donald Trump is president, once we have a huge majority in the House, and we take back the Senate, then we can change the voting laws. Then you could have one day of voting, you could have paper ballots, you could have voter ID," she insisted.

However, the path to implementing these reforms is fraught with obstacles, as Republicans face an uphill battle in securing victories in both chambers of Congress. Despite favorable prospects in Senate races, the GOP confronts challenges in the House, exacerbated by recent retirements.

GOP's commitment to safeguarding election integrity

In a recent interview with Fox News, Lara Trump reiterated the party's commitment to "protecting the vote" in the upcoming elections. Citing remarks by Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding voting restrictions, Trump underscored the importance of safeguarding election integrity.

“That is a huge problem. We have three pillars that we need to focus on at the RNC to ensure victory on November 5: turn out the vote, protect the vote, and raise money. But I would argue that maybe the most important of those three is protecting the vote, election integrity,” she told host Maria Bartiromo on 'Sunday Morning Futures'.

“We have to ensure that, when people go vote, they feel like their vote counts, that they are inspired to go vote. We can never allow what happened in 2020 and the questions surrounding that election to ever happen again,” Lara Trump added.

According to The Hill, central to the RNC's efforts is the establishment of an "election integrity division," comprising a nationwide network of volunteers, including poll watchers and trained poll workers. Lara Trump asserted the committee's proactive stance against electoral malfeasance, citing ongoing legal actions across 23 states aimed at fortifying the electoral process.

“And we currently have 78 lawsuits out right now in 23 states across this country to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat. And here’s what I want to say. To anyone out there who is thinking about cheating in an election, we will go after you. You will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It is not worth it,” she explained.

“Every person in this country, Maria, whether you are a Republican or Democrat, should want free, fair and transparent elections,” she added.

Addressing concerns about the legitimacy and legality of the RNC's initiatives, Lara Trump stated, "Every person in this country, whether you are a Republican or Democrat, should want free, fair, and transparent elections."

Internet slams Lara Trump's claims of ending mail-in voting

Lara Trump's initiatives, however, have not been without controversy. Critics lambasted her plans to recruit poll workers and her assertion that her father-in-law would curtail mail-in voting.

"No, he won’t because he does not have that kind of power," one social media user responded on X.

"How is this even legal?" another wondered.

"A middle finger to troops and those with disabilities trying to vote," someone else chimed in.

"Seriously the least qualified person running the RNC!" a comment read.

"Good luck finding people willing to work for Trump's 'election operation,'" another added.
