NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Barron Trump, the 18-year-old son of former president Donald Trump, is reportedly getting followed around on the New York University campus by fellow students who share clips of him on social media.

One Chinese national, in particular, went viral after uploading a video on social media, where she shared her plan of following Barron around and making him fall for her. While many dismissed her plan as satire, some netizens voiced concern for the freshman.

The social media trend of following Barron Trump at NYU

According to the Independent, NYU students have been capturing and sharing their sightings of Barron Trump being trailed by the Secret Service on the NYU campus. A report by WIRED described the posts as "Sasquatch-esque," essentially meaning short, frantic, and blurry.

The Secret Service has to monitor all such videos, as shared by former agent Paul Eckloff, who served under former Presidents George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump.

He noted, "The general threat environment that we face in the 21st century is greater than it has ever been. People’s location and activities tend to be more publicly known, and social media is more reactive."

Chinese student seeks to woo Barron Trump following tactics of romantic comedies

The fellow Stern student claimed in a social media post that she wished to woo Barron Trump, laying out an elaborate plan to that effect.

She reportedly said in the clip, "Hello everyone, today is my first day chasing Trump's son. Did you see the school? He takes classes here. I'm not chasing him casually. I've already arranged spies near him. There is a rich intelligence network reporting to me at any time."

The student claimed that Barron sat in the last row flanked by security personnel. After watching romantic comedies, she intends to pour coffee on his shoes and then offer to clean them and gift him two jugs of milk.

She quipped, "When this is done, I will rename NYU to Jinan University."

Internet reacts as Chinese student goes viral over her plan to woo Barron Trump

Netizens reacting to the viral clip on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) had varied takes on the subject. While some labeled it as satire, others advised Barron Trump to exercise caution.

One wrote, "Anyone who watches the actual video till the end should be able to tell this is clearly satire," and another joked, "Secret Service soon to be at her doorstep."

"Should contact the FBI?" quipped a person, while an individual said, "Watch out Barron, she looks like a schemer."

"Omg guys. She’s just kidding. Why are taking it seriously?" expressed one more. Another person quipped, "I hope they get married and have a thousand year reign as God king and queen."
