WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump urged the House Republicans to reject Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's move to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, citing the party was "not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate," reported the Washington Examiner.

The GOP presumptive nominee took to his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, May 8, afternoon, expressing his love for Greene but dismissing her call for a vote against Johnson's speakership.

"I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She's got Spirit, she's got Fight, and I believe she'll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come. However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country," Trump wrote.

The Republican-led House voted against the Georgia lawmaker's motion refusing to kick put Johnson. Democrat members joined the GOP in a 359-43 vote to table it on May 8.

Trump encourages House GOP to avoid 'disunity'

According to BBC, Trump encouraged the House GOP to oppose the motion while Greene was making a speech on the House floor, accusing Johnson of compromising with the Democrats.

The White House hopeful pointed at the razor-thin majority of the GOP in the lower chamber, indicating the timing for such a motion was not right.

"With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we're not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate. At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time," he said.

Trump then highlighted his lead in the presidential polls at the national level and in swing states, adding that the party was "doing well" in the Senate and hoped to do the same in the House.

"But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything!" he said and praised Johnson, labeling him "a good man who is trying very hard."

"I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together. It is my request that Republicans vote for 'THE MOTION TO TABLE.' We WILL WIN BIG - AND IT WILL BE SOON!" Trump concluded his post.

Greene first filed the motion to oust the Speaker in March after he supported the $95 billion foreign aid package, which included assistance to Ukraine.

The Georgia congresswoman has been a vocal critic of more US aid to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion that started in 2022. The Georgia Republican's move was in defiance of Trump's opposition.

When Johnson visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago last month, the former president supported the Speaker and said Greene "would understand" the situation.

Netizens hailed Trump for encouraging the House GOP to vote against Greene's motion.

One user wrote, "Trump is the perfect politician." Another remarked, "Presidential Leadership — As illustrated by DJT !!"

"That is truly the advice of an elder statesman, bravo DJT. Didn't know you had it in you," a user added. Meanwhile, a response read, "This is leadership."

Another user said, "Always pragmatic and I couldn't agree more. The one and only priority of the entire Republican party should be election integrity and assuring illegal votes CANNOT be cast by NON-citizens. Nothing is more critical. ALL other issues can be tackled after a LEGIT election!"

"Finally some sense on this issue," someone else opined. An individual deemed Trump's remarks "Loud and clear."
