Pete Davidson's mental health struggles
Pete Davidson's appearance at the Super Bowl party comes months after he checked himself into a wellness facility for his mental health.
The comedian was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) after the death of his father, Scott Davidson, a New York City firefighter who tragically lost his life during the September 11, 2001 attacks. At the time, the 'Bodies Bodies Bodies' star was just seven years old.
In June 2023, Davidson was charged with careless driving and ordered to complete an 18-month diversion program after he crashed his car into a house in Beverly Hills, resulting in the house being demolished in March 2023.
In September 2023, the actor revealed that he had been using ketamine daily for four years before checking into rehab following the Beverly Hills crash.
More recently, Davidson's mental health reportedly deteriorated after his breakup with actress Madelyn Cline in July 2024.
A source shared with RadarOnline in January, "Pete took the breakup very hard, For just a blink of an eye, he may have thought she was the one. They burned so brightly together and had so much in common."
His friends, concerned for his well-being, advised him to move back in with his mother, Amy Waters Davidson, and take time to heal. Following their advice, the comedian is now spending much of his time at his mother’s Staten Island home.
A source revealed, "Pete is spending most of his time hanging with his beloved mom at the Staten Island house he bought for her a few years ago. It has sparked speculation about his lifestyle and his finances. Despite Pete's serial Hollywood romances and high-profile career, his life isn't as glamorous as it seems."
"Plus, Pete actually loves being around his mom. They're super close. His friends were becoming increasingly worried about him so he agreed to crash with Amy for life so he can get some order back in his life," they added.
"He had come out of rehab but appeared lost and his behavior was worrying, to say the least. He's sad and lonely but now he has his mom watching his back," the insider concluded.
