WASHINGTON, DC: Robert F Kennedy Jr, in a sit down with Tucker Carlson, said former president Donald Trump asked him to be a part of the transition team "to help pick the people who will be running the government" in a potential Republican administration.

The environmentalist joined the conservative commentator on Monday, August 26, in his first interview since suspending the presidential race and endorsing Trump last week, as per Mediaite.

Responding to Carlson's question on what would be Kennedy's role in the Trump camp from the present day to the election day, the former Democrat said, "I'm gonna work to get him elected, and, you know, I'm working with the campaign. We're working on policy issues together."

"I've been asked to go on to the transition team and, you know, to help pick the pick who will be running the government, and I'm looking forward to that," he disclosed, adding, "I'm gonna fight. I don't know what would happen to me if we lose."

RFK Jr open to be Trump's CIA director but says Senate will not give confirmation

Robert F Kennedy Jr said that he never thought about what would happen to him if Trump lost the election, noting his daily task was to get up each day and report to his duty and accomplish it.

Describing himself as "a happy warrior," the environmental lawyer deemed everything as a task and not a crisis, and he knew what was needed of him and would do that.

Kennedy also revealed to Carlson his interest in being the director of the CIA in the Trump administration but said the Senate would never give confirmation.

Positively responding when asked whether he would take the role, the anti-vaxxer said, "Yes, I would, but I would never get Senate confirmation. As you know, the intelligence agencies are protected by very, very powerful committees in the Senate and the House that are all read into the project, and the people who serve on those committees are people who would, you know, they would not– they're safeguarding that directorship and I would be very, very dangerous for those committees."

Kennedy declared on August 23 that he would be suspending his independent residential race, throwing support behind Trump, which ignited outrage among the Kennedy family.

His sister, Kerry Kennedy, condemned the decision on MSNBC, calling it an "inexplicable effort to desecrate and trample and set fire to my father's [Robert F Kennedy] memory."

He also joined the former president at a rally in Arizona hours after withdrawing from the race, where he declared that Trump would "make America healthy again."

RFK Jr's disclosure about Trump asking him to be part of transition team splits Internet

Netizens were divided into two camps while reacting to Kennedy's revelation that Trump asked him to help pick people for the next administration. While one group welcomed his role, another deemed it "delusional."

"Oh ok so Captain Halfbrain is now running the ship. Lock it up, folks. Elections over," a user wrote.

Another added, "Lol that was the most positive description I've heard in a while. Kind of a happy warrior. Classy."

"LOL…friggin crazy train over there…they all lie like we breathe so who knows what’s really going on," said a third user.

A fourth response read, "He’s on the transition team! This is amazing!!!!"

"That's awesome! Trump did not do a great job with his choices the last time," someone else remarked, while one user deemed it as "beyond delusional."

"Plain and simple Robert is all about accomplishing what is best for the greater good, a true team player. It is not about him or his ego. I truly hope Trump learns something from him," an individual wrote.

On the other hand, another user said, "Oh so he'll blame Kennedy this time for all his shit picks. If he lucks out and beats Harris."
