WASHINGTON, DC: Independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr didn’t qualify for CNN's presidential debate on Thursday night, June 27. So he decided to have a solo debate, instead.

John Stossel, a libertarian and former Fox Business host announced on Thursday evening that he would be “moderating” the alternative debate, which would be live-streamed on Elon Musk's X platform.

Kennedy Jr watched the actual debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on a big screen and provide his own responses to the questions asked of both candidates, per Daily Beast.

What did RFK Jr say in his tweet before start of first presidential debate?

“We all know what to expect from Presidents Biden and Trump on CNN’s debate stage tonight. Arguments, name calling, accusations, and culture war issues– but no debate on most of the subjects that matter to Americans,” Kennedy Jr asserted in his tweet

“That’s because Trump and Biden aren’t so different when it comes down to it. Both represent corporations, private equity firms, pharma, and the military-industrial complex - the interests of which determine what they can talk about,” he wrote.

“The good news is that you can still see the three-man debate. We are hosting an alternative debate where you will hear not only Trump’s and Biden’s answers, but mine as well,” he added.

Robert F Kennedy Jr's run for the US presidency, though perceived as improbable, evoked concern within the Biden and Trump campaigns regarding potential vote redistribution.

However, RFK Jr’s campaign experienced a significant setback by failing to qualify for the CNN debate, reporting a meager $2.6 million in donations for May while spending more than double the amount he raised.

To participate in the CNN debate, candidates needed to achieve a minimum of 15 percent in four major national polls of registered or likely voters and be on the ballot in an adequate number of states to pursue the crucial 270 Electoral College votes necessary to win the November election.

RFK Jr secured the minimum level of support in three sanctioned polls from CNN, Quinnipiac University, and Marquette Law. Additionally, he will only appear on the ballot in nine states, accounting for a total of 139 electoral votes.

Internet reacts to RFK Jr's alternate presidential debate

People online swift reponded to the alternate debate.

One X user remarked, "I watched some of RFK Jr.'s debate, and the brainworm clearly won."

Another user quipped, "Why solo? He can debate that worm in his head."

Another user said, "First I don’t like half of where he stands on positions and 2nd I don’t trust him."

One user claimed, "He blew his own chance by not being moderate. You can’t be radically pro abortion and want to cut the military budget in half and expect to win or have a chance as a third party candidate."

Another X user wrote, "He lost me when he said he supported zionism..."

Finally, this user tweeted, "No, thanks. F**k him. He is supporting Israel's genocide."
