‘Running opposed’: Internet downplays Biden’s victory in South Carolina primary
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: President Joe Biden tasted an easy victory in the South Carolina Democratic primary, the party's first officially sanctioned race in his re-election bid, as reported by CNN.
The incumbent had little opposition in the February 3 primary, where he defeated his two nearest opponents, Minnesota Rep Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson, securing a whopping 96.2% of the votes.
The Democratic party deviated from its decade-old tradition and chose the Palmetto State, allowing diverse voters to select the presidential nominee.
Nevertheless, Biden had an unofficial victory in the New Hampshire primary despite his name not being on the ballot.
Biden celebrates his South Carolina win
President Biden took to X to celebrate his first official victory ahead of the November presidential election, which will likely be a rematch with Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

"Now, in 2024, the people of South Carolina have spoken again, and I have no doubt that you have set us on the path to winning the Presidency again—and making Donald Trump a loser—again," Biden continued.
The President, underscoring his effort to make South Carolina the first-in-the-nation primary for Democrats, stated, "Now, you are First In The Nation."

In addition, Biden also criticized his likely opponent, Trump, accusing him of "extreme and dangerous voices" working to "divide our nation and take us backward".
"We cannot let that happen. We've come a long way these past four years—with America now having the strongest economy in the world and among the lowest inflation of any major economy. Let's keep pushing forward. Let's finish what we started—together," he concluded.

Internet points out Biden won without opposition
Social media users refused to make a big deal of Biden's first official victory, citing the lack of strong opposition.
One user wrote, "Running unopposed. Hard not to win."
Another user questioned, "Was there anyone else on the ballot?"
"No competition," a third response read. A fourth user added, "He had no REAL opponent- good grief, nothing to brag about."
