NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The 'Saturday Night Live' episode on April 5 hosted by Jack Black took what many viewers believe was a subtle jab at country star Morgan Wallen.

The episode kicked off with a cold open featuring James Austin Johnson as President Donald Trump

SNL's hilarious Trump tariff sketch

The sketch had a joke about Donald Trump imposing tariffs on an Antarctic island populated by penguins, The Mirror reported.

It was all typical Trump satire until Johnson’s Trump character said, "McDonalds Island, I'd love to visit there, right? McDonald Island. Could you imagine that?"

"McDonalds Island, I'd love to visit there, right? McDonald Island. Could you imagine that? A Big Mac in a hula skirt, ooh la la. You know I had to mock up some artwork of McDonalds Island...there we go, I want to go to there...Get me to God's country, right? Remember that?"

However, it was the last line, “Get me to God’s country," that sent fans into a frenzy online.

Internet abuzz over 'Get me to God's country' reference

When 'SNL' dropped the phrase into their Friday cold open, viewers immediately connected the dots.

“NO WAY THEY SAID GET ME TO GODS COUNTRY LMFAOOOOO,” one fan wrote.

“Get me to gods country mention in the first skit of #SNL I love it here,” added another.

“Them saying “get me to god’s country” in the cold open on snl was too good,” one user commented.

“Hahaa “get me to Gods country” was the biggest FU to the musical guest from last week. #SNL,” a comment read.

"Omg I am howling at @nbcsnl. right now “get me to gods country, right?” Bahahahah," another viewer stated.

One person tweeted, "I knew that the writers wouldn’t resist and reference Morgan Wallen’s “get me to God‘s country“ line from his IG story, #SNL."

"Ayoooo the placement of that “get me to God’s country” was #snl," another remarked.

One viewer joked, "GOD’S COUNTRY MENTIONED ON SNL WHAT IS THIS??? INCEPTION???"

The line appeared to be a direct callback to country singer Morgan Wallen’s unexpected exit from the show just one week earlier, on March 29.

Wallen was the musical guest alongside Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison, who was hosting for the first time.

As Madison wrapped up the final moments of the show and thanked the cast and crew during the traditional group goodbye, Wallen whispered something to 'Anora' star, Madison.

He did so before briskly exiting the stage and walking right past the camera, noticeably skipping the hugs and group farewell.

Moments later, he posted a cryptic Instagram Story: a photo of a private jet on a nighttime tarmac with the text, “Get me to God’s country.”

He gave no explanation, leaving fans speculating about whether he was shading 'SNL' or simply missing the countryside.

This wasn’t the first time Morgan Wallen made headlines for 'Saturday Night Live'.

In 2020, he was originally scheduled to perform on the show but was disinvited after being spotted maskless and kissing several college women at a party in Alabama during the peak of COVID-19.

He later returned in December 2020 to make his musical debut on the show, and even participated in a sketch poking fun at his earlier mistake.
