WASHINGTON, DC: During a press briefing on Thursday, April 18, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that President Joe Biden’s maternal uncle, Ambrose Finnegan, died when his aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean during World War II.

This clarification comes after President Biden made two separate remarks on Wednesday implying that Finnegan had been eaten alive by cannibals in 1944.

Jean-Pierre explained to reporters aboard Air Force One that the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief was expressing his deep admiration for his uncle and how “incredibly proud” he was of the fallen US army member, per the New York Post.

She emphasized that the POTUS did not intend to make any disparaging comments about the New Guinea natives, but rather was using a figure of speech to convey his respect for Finnegan's bravery and sacrifice.

Karine Jean-Pierre explains Biden’s claims about uncle's death

“You saw the president, he was incredibly proud of his uncle’s service in uniform. You saw him at the war memorial. It was incredibly emotional and important to him," Jean-Pierre explained on the way to Philadelphia, where President Biden was making his third consecutive day of campaign visits in Pennsylvania.

“You saw him respond to all of you when asked about the moment yesterday and his uncle, who lost his life when the military aircraft he was on crashed in the Pacific after taking off near New Guinea,” she added.

Citing the presidential plane's approach to the Philadelphia airport, the press secretary interrupted further inquiries.

During Tuesday’s visit to a war memorial in Scranton, Pennsylvania that bears his uncle’s name, President Biden indicated that Finnegan, his uncle, was allegedly consumed by cannibals.

President Biden told reporters in Scranton, where he was born and lived on and off until he was 10 years old, “He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time. They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there and they checked and found some parts of the plane.”

The very next day, Biden reiterated in his speech to steelworkers in Pittsburgh that Ambrose Finnegan “got shot down in New Guinea and they never found the body because there used to be — there were a lot of cannibals, for real, in that part of New Guinea.”

The president's narrative of Finnegan's death is at odds with the official US military account, which Jean-Pierre cited.

The Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency says, “For unknown reasons, this plane was forced to ditch in the ocean off the north coast of New Guinea. Both engines failed at low altitude, and the aircraft’s nose hit the water hard.”

“Three men failed to emerge from the sinking wreck and were lost in the crash. One crew member survived and was rescued by a passing barge. An aerial search the next day found no trace of the missing aircraft or the lost crew members,” it further details.

Joe Biden has a lengthy track record of sharing personal stories that are often found to be false or lack any supporting evidence.

The Democratic statesman apparently does this to create a connection with his audiences, as he did recently with Pennsylvania voters who hold significant sway in his bid for re-election against former President Donald Trump.

Internet trolls Joe Biden after White House clarification

One X user remarked, "Has he ever told a truthful story? His whole life is a fabrication."

Another wrote, "So he lied then. It’s fine. He’s fine."

Someone else quipped, "It’s pretty comical to watch the democrats having to constantly clean up Biden’s mess and pretend like everything’s ok all the time. It’s like talking to your neighbor and their dog’s taking a dump right in front of them or starts humping your leg and they make excuses nonstop."

One user said, "Glad we got that cleared up."

Another remarked, "It's astonishing how the leftists never call him out on any of his daily lies."

A tweet read, "Joe will lie when it's easier to tell the truth. It's just a reflex."
