Sunny Hostin reveals she almost broke up with her now-husband Emmanuel because ‘he was too short’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sunny Hostin has recently revealed that she was about to end her relationship with her now-husband, Dr Emmanuel Hostin, because of his short height.
But she was reportedly advised against it by her best friend, Regina Jansen.
The TV host, along with her co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, were talking about Leah Remini's recent comments about her friendship with Jennifer Lopez during the Friday, June 6, ‘Hot Topics’ segment of ‘The View’, as reported by PEOPLE.

'The View' hosts discussed whether they would be friends with someone who criticized their relationship or marriage.
Hostin was then asked by Joy Behar what her response would be if her best friend, Regina Jansen, had told her to "forget about" Emmanuel, who is an orthopedic surgeon.

The 56-year-old replied, “I was going to cancel Manny because I thought he was too short. Regina told me he could stand on his medical degree, and he’d be tall enough. She gives good advice.”
The lawyer, however, also mentioned that “there have been times” when Jansen had not approved of some people in her life.
“I think when someone loves you and your friend loves you and you can be that honest, I receive that. I do listen to my friends that I'm close to,” Hostin added.

Hostin has been married to Emmanuel since 1998 after meeting at a Maryland church.
However, they first chatted at a nearby bagel shop after the service.

In her 2020 book, ‘I Am These Truths: A Memoir of Identity, Justice, and Living Between Worlds’, Sunny Hostin had reportedly written, “He was gorgeous, decked out in a beautifully tailored suit.”
“He would tell folks that we’d met in a bagel shop, but I’d let him and everyone else know that we’d met in church. That’s where the connection happened. He just hadn’t seen me,” she noted.
The couple is now parents to two children. Their eldest is son Gabriel, born in 2000. Their daughter Paloma was born in 2004.
Emmanuel Hostin accused of fraud
Meanwhile, earlier this year, it was reported that Emmanuel Hostin was named one of the accused in a federal lawsuit that blames him for insurance fraud.
Entertainment Weekly, citing court documents, said that he “knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services, including arthroscopic surgeries to Covered Persons through Hostin Orthopaedics that he purportedly performed.”
He’s also accused of deceitfully billing the insurance company, American Transit, through each of those entities in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation, which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.”
