NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A$AP Rocky dropped a new track titled 'Tailor Swif' on August 29, and it's got Swifties raising their eyebrows.

The song's title, a clear nod to Taylor Swift, hasn't been well received by her fans.

A$AP Rocky sparks controversy with ‘Tailor Swif’ artwork

The 35-year-old rapper, known for 'Good For You,' recently stirred up more buzz with the release of controversial artwork alongside the announcement of his new single, further drawing attention as he emphasized his desire for his sons, RZA and Riot, to have a normal upbringing.

'Tailor Swif' appears to be the lead single from A$AP Rocky’s upcoming fourth studio album, 'Don't Be Dumb.'

Originally scheduled for release on August 30, A$AP Rocky’s album has been postponed to Fall 2024 due to issues with leaks and sample clearances.

A$AP Rocky — born Rakim Athelaston Mayers — has referenced Taylor Swift in the past, including during his performance at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami last year.

He performed three unreleased tracks during the festival, one of which was provocatively titled 'Wetty (Taylor Swift)' and later cut from the album 'Don't Be Dumb.'

It seems that Taylor Swift's influence has been a recurring theme in A$AP Rocky's music, which has irked her dedicated fanbase.

A fan slammed Rocky, stating, "Men using taylor for clout in the industry, nothing new. why are men so obsessed with using her for their own gain? she’s a human being who deserves to be left alone." [sic]



 

Another said, "If its not a taylor swift disstrack den im blocking asap rocky on everything." [sic]

One more viewer noted, "Another one using Taylor Swift for clout cause her wife isn't enough. Let's make abundently clear who's starting beef with who." [sic]

One tweet read, "Now why the f is asap rocky releasing a song called 'taylor swift' lmaooo." [sic]

Taylor Swift's name has frequently appeared in other songs, not just in Rocky's work, but also in tracks by rapper Kanye West—now known as Ye.

The feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West began in 2009 when he interrupted her MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech.

Although Kanye West and Taylor Swift reconciled for a time, their relationship soured once more with the release of West’s 2016 track 'Famous,' which reignited the rift.

The song featured the controversial lyrics, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b***h famous (Godd***)/I made that b***h famous." [sic]

Swift claimed she was unaware of the specific lyrics before the song's release. However, Kim Kardashian, West's ex-wife, told GQ that Swift had been informed and had approved the track, stating, "She totally knew that that was coming out."

"She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn't," Kardashian said.

Despite these claims, a source later told People that Swift had never been made aware of the exact lyrics, "I made that b***h famous."

Most recently, West referenced Swift again in the song 'Lifestyle (Demo)' from his 'Vultures 2' album, with Ty Dolla $ign, also mentioning her NFL boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

The ongoing references and controversies indicate that Taylor Swift's name remains a significant touchpoint in the realms of music and celebrity drama.

Last year, Drake also mentioned Taylor Swift in his track 'Red Button,' featured in the album 'For All The Dogs.'
