Taylor Swift's 'special' gift to Chiefs' coach Dave Merritt has fans praising her for 'class act'

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Taylor Swift, who is now frequent to Chiefs games, decided to use her culinary talents with coach Dave Merritt after the Kansas City Chiefs' 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers on November 24.

Merritt reportedly revealed that over the weekend, the 'Fortnight' hitmaker surprised him with a batch of homemade “victory Pop Tarts."

For Dave Merritt, who is in his sixth season coaching Kansas City’s defensive backs, the gesture was as unexpected as it was heartwarming.

“I thought I was SPECIAL,” Merritt wrote, alongside a photo of the homemade Pop Tarts.

"Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop Tarts [for] me!" Merritt revealed, sharing his delight with a photo of the treats.

But his moment in the spotlight didn’t last long, thanks to his wife, Yolonda, who hilariously burst his bubble.

“Yolonda Merritt said, ‘She’s done it all season for different people, Dave,’” he added with a dose of good-natured humility.

Still, Merritt couldn’t help but gush, “Thought I was SPECIAL. Sweet young woman regardless!”

Swift, who has been dating Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce for over a year, has become more than just a star in the stands—she’s reportedly a cherished member of Chiefs Kingdom.

However, Yolonda was right as this isn't the first time that Swift has taken her baking skills to the field. 

Coach Andy Reid left out of Taylor Swift’s pop-tarts

Back in February, coach Andy Reid shared that Taylor Swift baked homemade Pop-Tarts (Taylor’s Version) for the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive line, which includes Kelce.

As per Billboard, in an interview on Pro Football Talk on February 27, Reid revealed that Swift enjoys cooking and made the treat for the players.

“Behind the scenes, she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid shared. 

However, the coach joked that neither Kelce nor the offensive linemen offered him one, adding with a hint of frustration, "She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one."

The interview followed the Chiefs' victory over the San Francisco 49ers at the 2024 Super Bowl, which Swift attended.
