LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TV personality Teddi Mellencamp is holding onto hope after receiving a sobering prognosis in her fight against Stage 4 cancer.

Diagnosed in February and recently hospitalized with multiple brain tumors, the 43-year-old shared that doctors have now discovered two additional tumors in her lungs.

Despite the challenges, Mellencamp revealed her doctors have given her a 50% chance of survival as she remains focused on treatment through immunotherapy, even as thoughts about life expectancy weigh heavily on her mind.

Teddi Mellencamp opens up about uncertainties amid cancer treatment

In a recent interview with Nightline, Teddi Mellencamp opened up about her ongoing immunotherapy treatment and the uncertainties that come with it.

Reflecting on her prognosis, Mellencamp shared, "I learned this isn’t the best question to ask if you’re doing immunotherapy, because immunotherapy has only been around 10 years."

She admitted she often finds herself asking doctors, “How long I got? What are my chances?’ And they oftentimes say 50/50," as per Fox News.

Recalling one conversation with her doctor, Mellencamp quipped, “50/50? I wouldn’t buy a car that’s only gonna drive 50% of the time. I don’t want this.”

Her doctor reassured her that the statistic reflects the relatively short history of immunotherapy, not its actual effectiveness.

“That show long immunotherapy has been around so that’s how long the study has worked. So that’s when I then try to find the positive,” she said.

Still, the reality of her diagnosis has been deeply emotional. “I really like to have control, and this is completely out of my control. And for the first time, I’m really scared.”

Teddi Mellencamp shared a candid and surprisingly light-hearted moment about her father, music legend John Mellencamp, who’s been a quiet but comforting presence throughout her cancer journey.

Speaking on her podcast 'Two Ts in a Pod', which she co-hosts with fellow 'Real Housewives' alum Tamra Judge, Mellencamp recalled, “Yesterday, my dad calls me 11 times in a row. Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little!’”

But his call had a rather unexpected topic—family burial plans. “He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum,'” she recounted.

The comment made her immediately think of her three children—Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5—and how they fit into the family’s future resting place in Indiana.

“He’s like, ‘Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried,’” she said, adding that her father encouraged her to add it to her will. "You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there," he father told her.

Laughing, Mellencamp admitted, “I think I agreed to be in the mausoleum,” before joking that a recent acquaintance inspired her to get "Hot girls never die" engraved on her tombstone.
