‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg schools Zachary Levi for calling his Trump endorsement ‘career suicide’
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Whoopi Goldberg took a moment to enlighten Zachary Levi on the intricacies of Hollywood during a segment on 'The View', following Levi’s declaration that endorsing Donald Trump could jeopardize his career.
At a recent rally in Michigan, the 'Shazam' star openly stated his support for the twice-impeached former president.
Whoopi Goldberg challenges Zachary Levi's perception of Hollywood's political landscape
In the Michigan rally, Zachary Levi had said, "We are going to take back this country. We are going to make it great again.'
Within my industry, as you can probably imagine, Hollywood is a very, very liberal town, and this very well could constitute career suicide."
When the conversation shifted to Levi's remarks on 'The View', Whoopi Goldberg disagreed with Levi's comments.
“That’s not necessarily true,” Goldberg pointed out.
“From the beginning of Hollywood, it’s always been a very right-leaning town. But I know you don’t know much about the Hollywood history, so let me school you.”
Whoopi Goldberg says Hollywood is a 'mixed bunch'
Whoopi Goldberg elaborated, noting that the entertainment industry, much like America itself, is diverse in its political affiliations.
“We are, like America is, we’re a mixed bunch. And sometimes it may seem like there’s more Democrats and sometimes it seems like there’s more Republicans."
"But the truth of the matter is, very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican.”
She referenced actors such as Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid, who have maintained successful careers while supporting the Republican Party.
“Stop that! It’s more BS, and it’s unnecessary,” Goldberg added, emphasizing her point.
Co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines both suggested there was "undue" pressure on celebrities to endorse political candidates.
The hosts specifically discussed Chappell Roan, who said she would be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, but did not necessarily agree with the Biden-Harris' policies in the Middle East.
Zachary Levi's political shift to Donald Trump
During the rally in Michigan, Zachary Levi announced his intention to vote for Donald Trump after initially supporting Robert F Kennedy Jr, who has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
“I do believe, of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump, President Trump is the man that can get us there,” Levi stated at the event, expressing confidence in Trump’s ability to lead with the backing and insights akin to those of Kennedy and former representative Tulsi Gabbard.
