DEARBORN, MICHIGAN: Zachary Levi, known for his role in 'Shazam!', endorsed former president Donald Trump, signaling it could lead to the end of his acting career.

The DC Comics superhero announced his support for the 45th president on Saturday, September 28, while hosting the 'Team Trump's Reclaim America Tour' in Michigan with Robert F Kennedy Jr and Rep Tulsi Gabbard, as per Daily Mail.

Levi, who was not a Trump fan in the past, initially backed Kennedy. However, the independent presidential candidate declared his endorsement of the Republican in August.

Zachary Levi claims Donald Trump is the 'man that can get us there'

Speaking at the event, Zachary Levi admitted that he believed his initial pick, Robert F Kennedy Jr, was the right guy, and he would have voted for the environmental lawyer in a perfect world.

"But we don't live in a perfect world. In fact, we live in a very broken one," the 'Tangled' actor added.

Levi claimed that the country had been taken over by individuals aiming to lead it in a dangerous direction and emphasized the need to prevent it, prompting cheers from the crowd.

He then repeated Trump's core agenda, "We are going to make America great again!"

"And so, I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump, because I do believe that of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump, President Trump, is the man that can get us there," Levi asserted.

He further claimed that Trump would make America great again with the support, wisdom, and knowledge possessed by Kennedy and Rep Gabbard.

Nevertheless, during the 2020 election, Levi was not part of the Trump camp.

An X (formerly Twitter) post from Levi in November 2020, less than a week after the election, read, "I am no fan or supporter of Trump, and I find his behavior to be vulgar, callous, narcissistic, and lacking empathy."

However, he defended Trump's supporters, saying that although he was not a conservative, he was aware of why many backed the MAGA leader. According to the actor, the support was not because voters liked Trump but "because he was the only candidate they felt cared about their needs."

The 'Chuck' actor also acknowledged at the event how his endorsement of Donald Trump could have repercussions on his future movie career, according to The Daily Beast.

"Within my industry, as you can probably imagine, Hollywood is a very, very liberal town, and this very well could constitute career suicide, so I’m glad I did it with you guys," Levi claimed, receiving applause from the crowd, including Kennedy.

Levi's 2019 movie 'Shazam!' was not a major box office success despite collecting $336 million worldwide. The sequel 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' had a disappointing opening weekend upon its release in March 2023, collecting only $30.1 million.

Besides Levi, celebrities like Hulk Hogan, Amber Rose, Elon Musk, Dana White, Rosanne Barr, and  Kid Rock have also endorsed Trump for POTUS.

Internet slams Zachary Levi for endorsing Donald Trump

Zachary Levi's endorsement of Donald Trump sparked backlash on social media as netizens refused to accept his evolution from being an "intelligent" person to a MAGA ally.

"Zachary cannot even make a great movie anymore," a user said.

"This news doesn’t surprise me one awful actor endorses one failed businessman turned reality star turned president," another added.

"A loser at the box office endorses a loser at the polls!" said a user.

"Never heard of him. Now I don't care even more. Imagine making decisions based on what some little celebrity says. Pathetic ;))" read another response.

"Zachary Levi used to be a huge nerd icon who stood for love & understanding & being yourself. Too bad his being yourself turned out to be this. I loved Chuck & was so excited when I finally got to meet him at a Con. To to think all that was fake and this was real him all along," someone else wrote.

"This is a surprise to absolutely no one who’s heard Zachary Levi speak any time in the last five years. But good god what an idiot," an individual chimed in.

"Zachary Levi's fall off will be studied in schools for generations to come. Actually embarrassing how he went from playing Shazam to whatever the hell this is," another user said.

"I legitimately do not understand how ppl as well meaning and intelligent as @ZacharyLevi fall for the most obvious con artist in history. Bro, Donald Trump is the opposite of everything you claim to be about. Conspiracy has taken you away from your values," read one remark.
