LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On a recent episode of 'The View', co-hosts brought attention to a "conflict of interest" concerning New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi and her "personal relationship" with former presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The discussion unfolded as they suggested that Nuzzi, being a young and "world-class" journalist, had "a lot more to lose."

Ana Navarro calls out potential bias in Olivia Nuzzi's reporting

"It was unethical, and it kind of puts all her writings in a different perspective. They’re going through them with a fine tooth comb to see if they spot any conflict of interest. The issue at hand is that she was covering the presidential campaign while writing pieces," said co-host Ana Navarro.

She emphasized the concern that Nuzzi's relationship could potentially compromise her journalistic integrity.

Following an internal investigation, New York Magazine placed Nuzzi on leave, confirming that she had engaged in a personal relationship with someone later identified as Kennedy Jr.

Navarro elaborated on Kennedy's past, stating, "He’s had a long, long record of philandering for many decades. His wife knows it and seems to be okay with it. So, like, what are the consequences for him?" She added, "The truth is, Olivia, who I also know and think is extremely talented, had a lot more to lose in this. And she is losing it. You know, the magazine right now is conducting a review and an investigation of the situation."

The co-hosts also lauded Nuzzi’s journalistic skills.

Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed to sexism as a factor in the scrutiny Nuzzi faced. "She’s considered a world-class journalist. She’s young, but she’s one of the best profile writers. That piece she wrote of RFK was scathing—she didn't pull punches. I agree it blurred ethical lines. I don’t agree with what she did. I think she will acknowledge it and take responsibility, but every time I see a headline that says ‘Olivia Nuzzi scandal', no RFK scandal," Griffin asserted. She emphasized, "It goes back to the sexism we fall into," adding, "I think that men need to bear a little more responsibility in this."

Sara Haines highlights RFK Jr's history of scandals

Co-host Sara Haines supported this perspective, noting that Robert F Kennedy Jr was involved in multiple other scandals, which diluted his accountability. "I get the optics problem. This was her beat and she did this," Haines said.

Nuzzi, who serves as the magazine’s Washington correspondent, has conducted several high-profile interviews during her coverage of the presidential election, including one with Kennedy, which she detailed in a feature last year.

In a statement, New York Magazine noted that Nuzzi had admitted to engaging in a personal relationship with a former reporting subject relevant to the 2024 campaign, violating the magazine's standards on conflicts of interest. Nuzzi clarified that while she had no physical relationship with the subject, she did have "personal" communications.

A spokesperson for Kennedy denied any physical relationship and mentioned that he had only met Nuzzi once.
