WASHINGTON, DC: Former White House communications chief Alyssa Farah Griffin claimed GOP nominee and former President Donald Trump may attempt to change his running mate even after the party ticket was officially recognized at the Republican National Convention in July, during an interview on Tuesday, August 27.

According to RawStory, GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sen JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is plagued by controversies such as those over his comments on 'childless cat ladies,' may be asked to step down in favor of former independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr, who is a known conspiracy theorist and not free from controversy by any stretch of the imagination.

However, there is no clear legal mechanism that will allow Trump to pull off the speculated swap, shared the publication.

Alyssa Farah Griffin's comments

CNN anchor Erin Burnett asked Griffin on Tuesday, "(Democratic strategist) Paul Begala was saying, Alyssa, that Trump would get rid of JD Vance, and ... (put) RFK Jr on the ticket. Can I just ask you, Alyssa, knowing Trump as you do ... at this point, do you think he would ever dump JD Vance?"

"Listen, I think that if Kamala Harris gets the post-convention bump we think, if she's successful in the debate, and she's ahead outside of the margin of error and enough swing states, I wouldn't rule anything out," responded Griffin.

"Donald Trump is desperate to win this. In some ways, his freedom is on the line, in light of this new court filing related to January 6. So I wouldn't rule it out."

Griffin went on to highlight Trump's fascination with the 'Kennedy' name, saying, "He loves the cache of a Kennedy name. I think he would love the idea of a Trump-Kennedy ticket."

Internet mocks Trump over the speculation

Netizens reacting on the RawStory website mocked Trump and the GOP over the political mess that they are speculated to be in. The following examples demonstrate the predominant takes.

"How desperate do you have to be to pick that loon?" inquired a person.

"He just needs a doctor to say that Vance has developed brain spurs and so cannot continue. Then he may be able to swing it. But it's important to realize that if Trump did replace him it would mean something that Trump cannot abide: He made a mistake in selecting Vance. I don't know if his ego will allow him to do that," noted another.

"What a Joke, having RFK Jr. Replace one idiot for another idiot, and one that you can't make sense of what he's trying to say," jibed a third.

"Trump-Kennedy will make the Qanon idiots happy at least," quipped a fourth.

"Do it Donnie, everyone loves RFK Jr, that's why he had to drop out," sarcastically noted a fifth.

"So one of the most hated men on Earth, wants the most hated Kennedy as a running mate? Brilliant!" chided yet another.
