NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump returning to his campaign trail after his hush money trial conviction.

The former President was unanimously found guilty by a panel of 12 jury members in the Manhattan Criminal Court on 34 counts of felony for falsifying business documents on May 30. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11 and may face penalties ranging from fine to a maximum of four years in prison on each count.

Sunny Hostin says Trump has suffered 'double polling blow' after conviction

"I definitely thought that the conviction would matter of the ... 34 counts," Hostin said at the Hot Topics table. "I think that would count, (even though) some polls have it that it doesn't count at all with Republicans- they are going to stand with their man."

"But recently, independent polls have come out, and check this out, 41 per cent of independents say they will now support Biden in the election compared to supporting Trump," she continued. "This is a significant shift, and that is an important shift," she added.

"He (Trump) has suffered a double polling blow among independents. Another separate poll showed Biden leading among independents with 50 per cent support. That is really significant, and I think that is what is also getting to him. So now he's saying, 'It's what they did to me.' He's playing the victim role," Hostin added.

Sara Haines on Trump's revenge and retribution rhetoric

"Revenge and retribution is not a good message to win on, not only among independents, but you've got big supporters of Donald Trump like Dr Phil, Hannity- kind of giving him an off-ramp at interviews, saying, 'You won't waste a lot of time with revenge, right?'" shared Haines during the discussion.

"I don't think the revenge is going to look like we think it is when he takes office," she said, before Whoopi pointed out, "If!"

"Hillary Clinton- once Trump won (against her), he was like, 'I'm done.' He didn't care anymore," she continued. "It's not going to be at someone like President Biden, it's going to be things like Project 2025... the long game ... is not all about Donald Trump. (Conservative organizations) are using him as a puppet to get into the White House."

"They want a unitary executive theory, which is all about making the executive branch imbalanced and more powerful than what originated in our constitution," Hained warned in conclusion.
