CRYPTO ARENA, LOS ANGELES: Host Trevor Noah took a jab at Nicki Minaj's absence from the 68th Annual Grammy Awards happening in Los Angeles.
During his opening monologue, the comedian mocked the recent friendship with President Donald Trump.
Trevor Noah roasts Nicki Minaj's ties with Trump
While opening the 2026 Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena, Trevor Noah said hello to stars like Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish before mentioning Nicki Minaj.
He told the laughing crowd, "Nicki Minaj is not here."
As people cheered, he joked that she couldn't make it because "She is still at the White House with Donald Trump, discussing very important issues."
Noah’s impersonates Trump talking to Minaj
Marking his sixth and last time hosting the show, Noah also did a mimicry of Trump talking to Minaj.
He joked as Trump, “Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s saying it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it, baby.”
Noah’s joke came after Minaj’s recent visible support of Donald Trump. Minaj and President Trump were photographed holding hands at a recent event, where the singer called herself Trump's "number one fan."
Ben Winston earlier confirmed Trevor Noah’s Departure
Executive producer Ben Winston shared earlier this year that this would be Trevor Noah's final time hosting the event.
Winston praised him by saying, “I am beyond thrilled to welcome Trevor Noah back to host the Grammys for his sixth, and sadly, final time.”
He added that Noah has been a "phenomenal host" who is smart, funny, and a true fan of the music.
While Noah said his goodbyes, the night focused on the awards, where Kendrick Lamar led the way with nine nominations and multiple celebrities took a stand against operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents across the United States.
The Grammys have been unmissably political this year.
