Trump trolled for saying Supreme Court gave Jack Smith a 'spanking' with presidential immunity ruling
WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump expressed his reactions to Supreme Court's ruling that presidents are immune from prosecution for actions taken in an official capacity, by stating on Truth Social that Special Counsel Jack Smith received "a high level SPANKING."
In a 6-3 verdict that divided justices along conservative and liberal camps, the Supreme Court decided that US presidents cannot be prosecuted for what it deems "official acts" during their presidency.
However, US presidents could still face prosecution for unofficial acts, according to Newsweek.
The case has been sent back to a lower court presided over by Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing Trump's federal election interference case, to decide what constitutes official and unofficial actions by a POTUS.
What are the implications of Monday’s Supreme Court ruling?
The States Supreme Court’s decision on Monday, July 1, is likely to further delay Trump's prosecution over allegations of breaking the law while attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
It could potentially lead to the dismissal of the case if judges conclude that he was acting in an official capacity during the alleged offenses.
Additionally, Trump's legal team is seeking to have the ex-president’s felony conviction in May on 34 counts of falsifying business documents in the Stormy Daniels hush money case overturned based on the same ruling.
The SCOTUS’s decision faced strong opposition from the three liberal justices, particularly Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who argued that it effectively granted any president unchecked power, allowing them to order the killing of a political opponent without fear of prosecution, thus making the president "a king above the law."
The 78-year-old MAGA strongman said in reference to Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the prosecution in his criminal federal election interference and classified documents cases, "A really bad day for Deranged Jack Smith, the wacko prosecutor used for Crooked Joe Biden's attack on his Political Opponent. Today, as in the past, the Supreme Court gave the Deranged One a high level SPANKING!"

The ex-Commander-in-Chief continued by targeting attorney Andrew Weissmann, former Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, and Attorney General Merrick Garland, adding, "His “real” bosses, Andrew Weissmann and Lisa Monaco, not to mention Merrick Garland, whose once great reputation has been shattered by these Thugs, and his constant defense of Crooked Joe, must be furious at him. Garland ought to call an end to this never ending HOAX, and let people focus on bringing back Greatness to America!”
Conservative Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in support of the majority opinion, suggesting Special Counsel Jack Smith could have been appointed illegally, by stating, "In this case, the Attorney General purported to appoint a private citizen as Special Counsel to prosecute a former President on behalf of the United States. But, I am not sure that any office for the Special Counsel has been 'established by law', as the Constitution requires."
Trump's legal representatives have maintained that Jack Smith's appointment was illegal in both his federal election interference and classified documents cases.

Another user claimed, "What Trump missed: In the ruling the court ordered Judge Chutkan to have hearings (before the election) where Jack Smith will be able to present all of the evidence including witness testimony from Pence & hundreds of others. All playing out weeks on end before the election."
