WASHINGTON, DC: Jeff Walz, brother of the Democratic vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov Tim Walz, has been hailed by the GOP and their nominee Donald Trump for speaking out against his brother and his ideology ahead of the general election.

Former President Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday, September 1, to share the front page of the day's New York Post, which has Jeff warning on the cover that Tim "should not decide America's future."

"Sounds like a really great guy!" he wrote in the caption.

Jeff Walz's comments on Tim Walz

Jeff declared on Friday evening over Facebook comments that he was "100% opposed to all his (brother's) ideology," according to the cited New York Post article. He is also considering endorsing GOP nominee Trump in the November election, shared the publication.

"I’ve thought long and hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it,” Jeff stated in a response.

“The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” he added of Tim.

Jeff, 67, claimed that he has not been in touch with Tim, 60, for eight years. When the latter was selected as the running mate for Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, he did not share the news with his elder brother.

“My family wasn’t given any notice that he was selected,” Jeff expressed.

MAGA promotes Jeff Walz's comments

According to Newsweek, Jeff found himself in the spotlight when MAGA commentators on social media discovered his March 31, 2023, Facebook post stating, "We've just become a third-world banana republic," made on the day Trump was indicted in his New York hush-money case.

While neither of the Walz brothers has confirmed the validity of the post, a far-right activist and internet personality Laura Loomer shared it on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that Jeff had donated to Trump's 2016 campaign.

Conservatives have flocked to promote the take, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Seems like even family can’t stand the left’s weak ticket," wrote a user.

"Tim Walz's own brother knows that Kamalanomics is ruining his life too, I guess," jibed another.

"Well, that's going to make Thanksgiving awkward," quipped a third.

"We know Tim’s brother got the brains in the family," chided a fourth.

"Trump should bring Jeff to a rally and invite him on stage," suggested a fifth.
