WASHINGTON, DC: Adam Kinzinger's recent revelation about Donald Trump's purported body odor has led to an avalanche of jokes and memes mocking the former president across social media.

As Kinzinger advised his followers to "wear a mask" around the former president, the hashtags #TrumpSmells and #TrumpStinks took X by storm.

Adam Kinzinger's post about Donald Trump's body odor starts a social media storm

The trend began when former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger posted on X on December 16, “I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor. It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can."

The tweet quickly gained traction, sparking the trending hashtag #TrumpStinks and kicking off a wave of humorous commentary.

Kinzinger, who served on the January 6 committee investigating Trump's role in the 2021 Capitol attack, offered no further details to back up his smelly claim. But his tweet was enough to ignite the imagination of thousands of Trump critics on social media.

Among them was comedian Kathy Griffin, who replied to Kinzinger's post by saying, "Yep. Can confirm." Her response lent credence to claims she previously made in May of this year about Trump's body odor.

Griffin stated that when she and Liza Minnelli appeared together on Trump’s show 'The Apprentice', they “tried to ignore him, but he does smell really bad.”

Memes and jokes surrounding Donald Trump's purported body odor flood social media

On X, a hub for the uproar, the floodgates opened with a deluge of memes and jests surrounding Trump's alleged scent. One user ingeniously portrayed Trump and Putin sitting at opposite ends of a table, insinuating that it was due to Trump's purported smell, captioning it with a cheeky "Putin knew."

Another post featured Trump and Melania, suggesting that the surprised expression on her face in the picture was implicitly linked to a supposed odor issue, accompanied by the caption, "Now her face makes sense."

In the realm of wordplay, a third user quipped, "Uncle Reeko," drawing a connection between the word "reek" while cleverly referencing the 13 charges faced by the former president in Georgia, including violations of the state's anti-racketeering law (RICO).

Adding a touch of ironic humor, someone pondered, "Wouldn't it be hilarious if the headline that brought Trump down was #TrumpStinks?"

Expressing disbelief at the hindsight, another user remarked, "I can't believe we didn't see it before. Everyone tried to warn us that #TrumpSmells," accompanied by a video showcasing the Japanese Prime Minister's interaction with Donald Trump.

"Odor in the Court," joked another tweet, accompanied by a sketch of Trump in a courtroom.

Another person posted a GIF that said, "The smell alone could kill you," as one more posted two pictures of Trump offering his hand to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the first picture and to Putin in the second one, with both of them simply staring at his hand. The caption of the picture imagined their thought, saying, "I'm not touching that."

Donald Trump's team fires back at Adam Kinzinger over his viral smell comments

True to form, Trump's camp wasted no time hitting back at Kinzinger over his smell comments. The former president’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung slammed the ex-congressman as “an unemployed fraud” who had “disgraced his country,” per Newsweek.

Cheung also accused Kinzinger of “farting on live TV,” though he provided no evidence to back up this crude allegation.

The heated response suggests the Trump world is taking Kinzinger's odor claims seriously amid rising legal troubles for the former president.

With charges pending against Trump in Georgia and scrutiny mounting at both the state and federal levels, even silly allegations about personal hygiene could further damage his public standing as he makes another run for the White House.
