Internet rips 'powerless' Biden for blaming Trump as Florida's 'extreme' 6-week abortion ban takes effect
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden blamed his predecessor, Donald Trump, for the 6-week abortion ban that took effect in the former president's home state, Florida, on Wednesday, May 1, reported Fox News.
On Wednesday, the president released a statement calling the restriction an "extreme ban" and a "nightmare."
"Today, an extreme abortion ban takes effect in Florida, banning reproductive health care before many women even know they are pregnant," Biden stated. "There is one person responsible for this nightmare: Donald Trump."
The new law replaced the previous 15-week ban with six weeks in the Sunshine State with the exceptions only for rape, incest, human trafficking, fetal abnormalities, and threat to a mother's life.
Joe Biden blames Donald Trump's role in reversing Roe v Wade
The incumbent pointed fingers at the GOP presumptive nominee's role in revoking Roe v Wade in 2022 when the US Supreme Court revoked the decades-old law restricting abortion access, leaving the legislation to individual states.
"Trump brags about overturning Roe v Wade, making extreme bans like Florida's possible, saying his plan is working 'brilliantly.' He thinks it's brilliant that more than four million women in Florida, and more than one in three women in America, can't get access to the care they need," Biden slammed his 2024 White House opponent.
Trump often boasted about his role in overturning the landmark regulation. The appointment of three justices during his Oval Office tenure shifted the SCOTUS majority into conservative, leading to the decision that upended it.
In a late February interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the Republican White House hopeful said that Roe v Wade allowed women to "kill the baby after birth."
Biden also criticized Trump's latest remarks in an interview with Time Magazine, where he said he would leave it to states regarding the punishments for those who seek abortion outside the state. "Now, [Trump] wants to go even further, making it clear he would sign a national abortion ban if elected," the president argued. "Just yesterday, he once again endorsed punishing women for getting the care they need."
In the Time interview, the MAGA spearhead reiterated his stance to not endorse a national abortion ban, leaving the issue to individual states.
"Trump is worried the voters will hold him accountable for the cruelty and chaos he created. He's right. Trump ripped away the rights and freedom of women in America. This November, voters are going to teach him a valuable lesson: Don't mess with the women of America," Biden concluded.
Floridians will vote in November on a proposed amendment to allow abortion until fetal viability.
Abortion took center stage in the rematch between Biden and Trump as many Republican states enacted extreme abortion bans after the overturning of Roe v Wade two years ago. According to CNN, nearly two dozen states have banned or limited access since then.

Internet blasts Joe Biden
Netizens lashed out at Biden for blaming Trump for Florida's decision that took place during his tenure.
One user wrote, "So, no offense but if you guys are so powerless in the face of 'Trump's' policies, why would anyone who wants those "policies" corrected, vote for you? Wouldn't we just be sending the powerless back to DC to do nothing other than grandstand?"
Another questioned, "How do you as a sitting president blame another for something happening literally under your nose?"

One user added, "I think it's absurd that Biden is blaming Trump for everything that he himself should be in charge of!" Another response read, "That's all he can do blame other people, he'll he has blamed other people every year even when he was in congress. He will go down as the biggest failed presidency ever let that sink in!"
"Once again, Biden's senility shines forth. The Supreme Court returned the abortion issue to the state. The states now decide the abortion issue, not the federal government," someone else remarked.
