LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A Los Angeles DJ who was injured after being struck by a microphone thrown into the crowd at a 50 Cent concert is firing back with a lawsuit against the rapper. Hip hop radio personality and 'Power 106' host Bryhana Monegain filed a civil complaint last week stemming from the onstage incident at a downtown LA show in August 2023, per Daily Mail.

She is seeking unspecified damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional distress. The news quickly went viral online with commenters poking fun at the lawsuit's prospects and 50 Cent's legal woes.

Monegain has filed a civil lawsuit against 50 Cent, months after being allegedly struck by a microphone he threw into the crowd at a concert. The incident occurred last August 3 during 50 Cent's performance at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles, part of his nationwide 'Final Lap' tour.

According to a report from TMZ, Monegain states in her lawsuit that near the end of his set, 50 Cent realized his microphone had stopped functioning properly. Frustrated, the rapper spontaneously hurled the mic toward spectators in the front rows.

Monegain, a DJ for hip-hop radio station Power 106 in LA, alleges she was standing among the crowd when she was hit unexpectedly in the face by 50 Cent's airborne microphone. The impact caused her to suffer a concussion, forehead laceration, and other minor physical injuries. She claims to still be experiencing emotional trauma tied to the event.

Bryhana Monegain is seeking civil damages

Initially after the incident, Monegain filed a police report and 50 Cent became the subject of a battery investigation. His attorney Scott Leemon was quick to defend the rapper against wrongdoing, stating publicly, "Let's be very clear...Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone."

By November however, the LA District Attorney had cleared 50 Cent of any criminal charges related to assault with the microphone. Instead, they passed the case file onto the LA City Attorney's office to examine potential misdemeanor offenses.

Ultimately no criminal charges were filed, but a caveat was attached - the case would remain open for one year, during which 50 Cent could still face charges if further issues occurred between him and Monegain.

With her physical recovery incomplete and emotional wounds unhealed, Monegain has now taken the next step of suing 50 Cent to seek civil damages. Her lawsuit asks for compensation covering lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, and any other applicable damages granted.

How the judge and jury rule, and whether an amicable settlement happens prior, remains to be seen in the months ahead.

Internet offers snarky reactions to news of 50 Cent being sued

True to form, the Internet offered plenty of snarky reactions to the news that 50 Cent was being sued over the flying microphone incident. One Facebook user humorously predicted, "Goin to be called 25 cent after the lawsuit." Another questioned the monetary stakes with a witty remark, stating, "Is it for more than 50 cents?"

A third user contributed to the conversation, adding a playful twist, "I don’t know what you heard about him.. but you can’t get a dollar outta him." Meanwhile, someone took a more direct approach, advising, "Just stop girl."

Drawing parallels with another high-profile incident, a fifth user reminisced, "Y'all remember when Cardi B did the same thing and got away with it." Expressing skepticism about the extent of the injuries, someone else said, "Ya right, a microphone did that much damage and scratched her arm. Head I can see but the scratches make me question it."
