Al Pacino, 84, reveals name of actress he almost married: 'It wasn't easy to say no to a woman I love'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Legendary actor Al Pacino, now 84, has opened up about his past relationships in his new memoir 'Sonny Boy', revealing which of his famous exes came closest to becoming his wife.
Although Pacino has been romantically linked to many iconic women, he disclosed that the closest he ever came to marriage was with 'Apollo 13' actress Kathleen Quinlan, whom he dated in the 1980s.
Al Pacino reflects on romantic relationship with Kathleen Quinlan
Al Pacino shared that his romance with Kathleen Quinlan began after they met at a New York party hosted by renowned acting teacher Lee Strasberg, with whom Pacino starred in 'The Godfather' Part II.
At the time, both were involved with other people, but they struck up a friendship.
“She became a 'comfort' to me during the shoot of 'Scarface'," Pacino explained, revealing how the relationship turned romantic after filming wrapped, with the two even traveling together to Europe.
Despite their close bond, Pacino ultimately chose not to take the next step into marriage, admitting it was difficult to say no to Quinlan.
"It wasn't easy to say no to marriage with a woman I love," Pacino wrote, adding, “It hurt when she left, and I carried the hurt with me for years.”
In his memoir, Pacino confesses that he has always shied away from marriage.
"I guess I didn't see how it would help anything. I just wanted to avoid what I thought, at the time, was the inevitable: an entrance to the pain train," he candidly remarked.
This reluctance has been a theme in his life, even as he navigated relationships with stars such as Penelope Ann Miller, Lucila Sola, and Lyndall Hobbs, as per Daily Mail.
Al Pacino's famous on-and-off romance with co-star Diane Keaton

"She worked hard on getting him to commit," according to sources, but eventually left him in 1990, after issuing an ultimatum.
Keaton once told People magazine about her feelings for Pacino: “Charming, hilarious, a nonstop talker. There was an aspect of him that was like a lost orphan, like this kind of crazy idiot savant. And oh, gorgeous!”
Al Pacino embraces fatherhood again at 83 with girlfriend Noor Alfallah
Fast forward to 2023, and Al Pacino became a father again when his then-girlfriend Noor Alfallah, 30, gave birth to their son Roman.
This made him one of the oldest known new fathers at the age of 83. Pacino has three other children: Julie, 35, from his relationship with acting coach Jan Tarrant, and twins Anton and Olivia, 23, with actress Beverly D'Angelo.
Despite their brief romance, Pacino and Alfallah never married, with Noor describing herself as "not the marrying type" shortly after Roman’s birth.
However, when asked again in August 2023 about the possibility of tying the knot, she responded to TMZ: "I don't know."
Their relationship, which began in April 2022 but blossomed further during the Covid-19 lockdowns, came to an end this year.
