WASHINGTON, DC: Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Communications Director, discussed former President Donald Trump's decision to join TikTok, highlighting the “transactional” nature of his character.

On Friday, June 7, in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Scaramucci pointed out the apparent reversal in Trump's stance, particularly in his efforts to ban the app during his time in office.

According to The Hill, Scaramucci expressed his perplexity at how the former POTUS gets a “free pass” when changing his position on an issue, compared to other US lawmakers prone to more scrutiny.

What did Anthony Scaramucci say in his CNN interview regarding his former boss Trump?

“Because John Kerry was for the war before he was against it. Hillary Clinton, they called her a flip-flopper. Donald Trump was negative on Bitcoin and crypto. Tweeted about it as president. Now all of a sudden, he’s positive about it,” Scaramucci claimed, adding that the ex-president was “negative on TikTok, was going to ban it. Now he’s positive about it.”

“I don’t understand how these people don’t realize how transactional he is,” the conservative pundit remarked. “And at the spur of the moment, if it serves his personal interests, forget about the country. It’s got to serve his personal interest. He’ll flip on a dime.”

Anthony Scaramucci’s comments were made shortly after Donald Trump’s official debut on TikTok.

The former President and his team shared a video featuring him alongside Dana White, the President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, at the UFC 302 event in New Jersey.

Trump’s inaugural presence on the platform proved to be impactful, as it exceeded President Joe Biden’s campaign follower count within a mere 24 hours.

Scaramucci lauded Trump's decision to join the platform as "good political instincts," but argued that the initiative is "completely dishonest" and should be condemned.

“And so right now, the President has good political instincts, and he sees those two things as raising him money and potentially widening the birth of a younger demographic of voters,” Scaramucci asserted.

“But it’s completely dishonest and I don’t understand why he’s not being called out on it the way other classical politicians have been called out on switching their views,” he said Friday.

During his tenure, Donald Trump attempted to issue an executive order to ban TikTok, mandating that the app's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, divest its US assets.

However, the order faced legal challenges and was subsequently blocked in court.

In a shift of stance this year, the 77-year-old MAGA strongman opposed the video platform's ban, contending that it could confer advantages upon other social media companies, such as Facebook.

Amidst negotiations for a funding bill earlier this year, the House and Senate moved forward with legislation aimed at excluding TikTok from US app stores due to perceived national security concerns.

President Joe Biden signed this legislation in April, thereby requiring ByteDance to divest its assets within approximately a year to maintain access to the American market.

It's worth noting that the POTUS retains the authority to grant a 90-day extension to ByteDance.

Notably, Trump attributed potential responsibility for the ban to his political rival, President Joe Biden.

Furthermore, Trump's primary Super PAC, Maga Inc., recently joined TikTok—an action likely intended to resonate with younger voters.

This strategic move underscores the evolving landscape of political engagement through social media platforms.
