Billie Eilish says reception for 'What Was I Made For' is 'surreal and amazing'

At the pre-show, the 22-year-old singer and her brother Finneas won the Grammys for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Expressing her astonishment at the recognition, Eilish said,  "We put one song out this whole year. And did not think it would get — maybe one, even, let alone six. Which is really, really crazy."

"This was supposed to be an off year. Didn’t put an album out, didn’t do anything. We really made one song and we were like, ‘Here you go,' " she added.

The nominations for Eilish's track include Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best Pop Solo Performance.

"It's just insane. It's so surreal and amazing," Eilish said of the nominations.

Finneas O'Connell says working for 'Barbie' was 'immense' for him and Billie Eilish

At the red carpet pre-show, Finneas spoke about working for the 2023 film 'Barbie' as she said, "That movie was so meaningful to the two of us and we loved it so much and the sort of honor of writing something to participate in it was like, immense, for us."

"To be in any of these rooms, on ‘Team Barbie,’ has been really fun. I was saying that to Greta [Gerwig] recently. I feel like we’re honorary members of the 'Barbie' entourage and it’s very cool." he continued and Eilish added, "It’s a cool group to be a part of."

'What Was I Made For?' also earned a nomination for Best Original Song' at this year's Academy Awards, adding to Eilish and her brother Finneas' growing list of achievements.

This recognition comes two years after they won their first-ever Oscars for 'No Time to Die' in 2022 for the James Bond film of the same title.

In January, Eilish and Finneas celebrated winning 'Best Original Song' for 'What Was I Made For?' at the Golden Globes.

"It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie and I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time, and writing that song kind of saved me a little bit," Eilish said in her acceptance speech at the ceremony.
