WASHINGTON, DC: Tech giant Elon Musk reportedly plans to donate $45 million monthly to a new political group supporting former President Donald Trump in the 2024 race.

The SpaceX CEO, who gave full endorsement to the 45th president after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt over the weekend, joined other tech moguls to contribute to American PAC, sources disclosed to the Wall Street Journal.

The pro-Trump super PAC is focused on boosting support for the ex-president in swing states to counter the Democratic stronghold via "get out the vote" campaigns.

The whopping donation would enable Trump, who sustained an ear injury after being shot by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Tech tycoons donate to pro-Trump America PAC

Besides Musk, Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, the chief executive of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners and former US ambassador to Canada, Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe Craft, are other magnates supporting Trump through America PAC.

The Tesla CEO has already contributed a "sizeable amount" to America PAC, but the total amount remains undisclosed. Until now, the group has spent $6.6 million on the real estate mogul's campaign.

Established in May, the political group is based in Austin, Texas, where the headquarters of Musk's electric car company, Tesla, is located. According to the Political Action Committee's website, it facilitates visitors to "register to vote" and "make a plan to vote early in person or by mail."

"Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all. We can have the greatest election victory in America's history when you vote!" the message on the website said.

Taking advantage of the attempted assassination of him, Trump recently sent out a fundraising appeal with the image of him raising his fist in the air moments after the shooting with the message "I am Donald J Trump, and I will NEVER SURRENDER."
