CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jose Canseco, a retired Major League Baseball player, expressed his interest in serving as a moderator for a presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

On Tuesday, July 23, the former Oakland Athletics star took to X (formerly Twitter) to share, "I should moderate the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris," after the ex-president said he "would be willing to do more than one debate" with the vice president before the election, as per Fox News.

Since ABC News’ Linsey Davis and David Muir have already been announced as the moderators for the September 10 presidential debate, the former MLB slugger may have to square off against them.

The expected match-up between Joe Biden and Donald Trump took an abrupt turn on Sunday as the 81-year-old incumbent unexpectedly dropped out of the race, and extended his support to Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee.

In response, the 78-year-old MAGA strongman expressed his willingness to participate in multiple presidential debates with the vice president before the November election.

During a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Fox News' Bill Melugin asked Trump if he would commit to debating VP Harris at least once and the 45th president responded, "Absolutely. I'd want to. I think it's important."

The GOP presidential candidate asserted, "I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually."

On Monday night, Vice President Harris announced that she had successfully secured endorsements from a majority of the delegates needed to become the party's nominee at the Democratic National Convention, scheduled for August 19 to August 22 in Chicago.

Trump informed reporters that debating Harris rather than Biden "will be no different because they have the same policies."

The June 27 televised debate between Trump and Biden ultimately led to the decline of the incumbent's reelection campaign, as his poor performance prompted calls for him to step aside to make space for a better candidate.
