Fans not happy as Kieran Culkin snubs big brother Macaulay in Oscars speech: 'Who gave you your career'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kieran Culkin just snagged his first-ever Oscar in a moment filled with joy, a lot of expletives, and... a major omission.
The 'Succession' star, 42, won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s 'A Real Pain' at Sunday’s Academy Awards.
But while his speech was packed with love for his wife, Jazz Charton, and even a nod to former co-star Jeremy Strong, fans couldn’t help but notice one glaring absence - his famous big brother, Macaulay Culkin.

Kieran Culkin's passionate and expletive-laden Oscars speech
As Robert Downey Jr (last year’s winner for 'Oppenheimer') handed over the golden statue, Kieran Culkin could hardly believe it. “Oh, my God, that's crazy. I don't even know. Mr Downey, sir, thanks for handing this to me,” he said, showing off his new hardware. “This means a lot coming from you.”
After Downey Jr had hyped up Jeremy Strong’s performance in 'The Apprentice,' Kieran took a moment to agree: “He's right, by the way, Jeremy, you're amazing in The Apprentice.”
But then he got a little too carried away, leading to an on-air bleep-out. “I love your work, it’s f**king—I'm not supposed to single anyone out here, but you were great, and I've already lost whatever speech I prepared,” he laughed.

Next, he turned his attention to 'A Real Pain' director Jesse Eisenberg, calling him a “genius” before teasing, “I'm never saying it again, soak it up.”
Then came his tribute to Jazz. Kieran didn’t just thank his wife, he reminded the world of a very interesting deal she had made with him.
“I love you, Jazz. I have to thank my wife Jazz for absolutely everything, for giving me my favorite people in the world,” he said, referring to their two kids, Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf. “Please don't play the music because I want to tell a really quick story about Jazz.”
Kieran took the audience back to his 2023 Emmy Awards win, when he had jokingly (or not so jokingly) asked Jazz for a third baby. “About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid,” Kieran recalled.
Turns out, Jazz never actually thought he’d win. “It turns out she said that because she didn’t think I was gonna win,” he revealed to laughter. “People came up to her and were like really annoying her. I think it got to her.”

But after the Emmys, Jazz actually admitted she owed him one.
“Anyway, after the show, we’re walking through a parking lot. She’s holding the Emmy. We’re trying to find our car. Emily, you were there so you’re a witness, and she goes, ‘Oh, God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid.’ And I turned to her, and I said, ‘Really, I want four,’” Kieran recalled. “She turned to me, I swear to God, this happened. It was just over a year ago. She said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar.’”
Now that he has, Kieran cheekily turned to Jazz from the stage. “You remember that, honey, you do? Okay, then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life…No pressure. I love you.” He wrapped up with a final wink, “I'm really sorry I did this again, and let's get cracking on those kids. What do you say?”

Fans notice a major snub in Kieran Culkin's Oscars speech
While Kieran’s speech was full of raw emotion, there was one person missing: Macaulay Culkin. The 'Home Alone' star was nowhere to be found in his little brother’s thank-yous, and his fans weren’t having it.
"No mention of Macaulay," one posted on X.
"#Oscars2025 Well Done Kieran Culkin. Best Supporting Actor. Has come along way since the Home Alone movies as Fuller. No mention of Macaulay in his speech!!!!!!" another wrote.
"Wouldn't it have been nice if Kieran had remembered Macaulay?" someone else added in Spanish.
"Thank Macaulay who gave you your career," read a comment.
"We live in a world where Kieran has won the Oscar before Macaulay. The conclusion is obvious: we do not live in the best of all possible worlds," another fumed.

No hagués estat bé bé que Kieran s'hagués enrecordat de Macaulay?

Vivimos en un mundo en el que Kieran ha ganado el Oscar antes que Macaulay. La conclusión es obvia: no vivimos en el mejor de los mundos posibles.
