Internet mocks Alina Habba for saying she's 'proud' to defend Trump amid $83.3M Jean Carroll verdict
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Alina Habba, former President Donald Trump's attorney, went off in a fiery statement after the Manhattan jury ordered her client to pay a whopping amount of $83.3 million in damages for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll in 2019, as reported by The Hill.
Talking to the media after exiting the courtroom followed by the verdict in Carrol's favor on Friday, January 26, Habba said she was 'proud' to represent Trump.
The Messenger posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) where the attorney retorted against a reporter who questioned whether she regretted representing the ex-president.
"No, I'm not having any second thoughts about representing President Trump. It is the proudest thing I could ever do," she stated.

She then accused New York of being hostile to Trump, indicating the failure of the defamation verdict and the suit filed by NY Attorney General Letitia James. Habba claimed the continuous trials were because Trump was leading in the polls.
"So don't get it twisted," she added. "I am so proud to stand with President Trump. But I am not proud to stand with what I saw in that courtroom."
Trump, who exited the court before the verdicts, slammed it on Truth Social, calling the decision "absolutely ridiculous" and a "Biden Directed Witch Hunt."
Alina Habba melts down while leaving courtroom
Habba, who represented Trump in the defamation trial, was on the brink of tears after the massive verdict, according to a report by liberal news network Meidas Touch.
Addressing the media after the verdict, the attorney also slammed Judge Lewis Kaplan, claiming he ensured "every single defense that President Trump had" was not raised in front of the jury.
Additionally, her disruptive behavior in court on the day of the verdict prompted the judge to issue a stern warning, threatening to send her to jail.
Like Trump, his attorney also received warnings from District Judge Lewis Kaplan multiple times during the trial days.
Her nasty exchanges with the judge apparently started when the latter refused to delay the trial for Trump to attend his mother-in-law's funeral on January 18. Later, the attorney had several slip-ups, embarrassing herself and her client. This caused the media to mock her over a past statement where Habba said "I can fake being smart," questioning her competency to handle a significant case.
Internet reacts to Alina Habba's remarks
Internet users had no empathy towards Habba's meltdown and her pride in representing and defending Trump; instead, they mocked her, asking her to return to law school.
One user said, "Habba needs to go back to law school, or better yet, get a job at Fox or Newsmax as political spin is more her lane."
