Harris says she’s ‘proud’ to have Taylor Swift’s support but reveals her one disagreement with singer
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris recently expressed pride and happiness in receiving pop star Taylor Swift's endorsement for the 2024 election.
Harris praised Swift’s courage and influence, saying, she is "proud" of the support from the pop star.
After the September 10 presidential debate between Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump, Swift announced her endorsement for Harris in a lengthy Instagram post.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," wrote Swift.
Kamala Harris is ‘very proud’ to have Taylor Swift's backing
Kamala Harris participated in Wired’s autocomplete interview series on Friday, September 20. She was asked what it’s like getting endorsed by Taylor Swift.
Responding to this, Harris said, "I am very proud to have the support of Taylor Swift. She’s an incredible artist, and I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right."
However, Harris humorously pointed out one point of difference between both of them.
"We were on different sides of the Super Bowl last year," she noted, referencing Swift's support of her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, which defeated Harris' hometown team, the San Francisco 49ers, in February earlier this year.
"But who’s mad at anyone for being loyal to their team?" she added with a smile.
In Swift's endorsement post, the 'Lover' singer described Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader". This endorsement garnered widespread attention, particularly from public figures like Hillary Clinton, Stevie Nicks, and George Clooney.
On the flip side, it sparked criticism from conservative voices, including JD Vance, Megyn Kelly, and rapper Lil Pump.

Swift is among several musicians who have endorsed Harris in this election, joining the likes of Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and others who have voiced their support for the Democratic ticket in recent months.
Former president Donald Trump, who faces Harris in the 2024 race, also weighed in, predicting that Swift would "probably pay a price for it in the marketplace". He later posted on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
